Trd sport or trd offroad?

I’ve used my locker 3x in ten years.
And then it was only to make it easier to cross a ditch. I could have made it without a locker. You just have to send it a little harder.

My 2nd Gen doesn’t have any type of Traction Control. All the 3rd Gens have some form to TC.

I honestly wouldn’t care.
They both are well capable trucks.

 

I have a 2 wheel drive OR with lockers. I am always on muddy roads and have never had a problem. It is very capable as a 2 wheel. My other vehicle is a jeep rubicon and i rather my tacoma. 2 wheel, saved about $3000 and average 22mpg

 

It would be a crew cab 5 foot bed automatic, I have no interest in a stick shift so please don't bring that up and pro is not an option.

I miss my 6' bed, but having my bed extender definitely makes up for that. I love my crew cab as well. I had an extended cab in my last truck (access cab for the Tacoma) and it wasn't great for people and was often just cluttered with stuff I was storing inside.

 

Honestly if you want to buy right away it'll be what's available in Sport or OR in the color you want.

 

I have read most of those threads and they they didn't help much overall but I appreciate it.
I dont go off road, I don't do trails, I had a 2nd gen trd.sport access cab before I needed a bigger truck so have a tundra now in lease but its just too big.
If I need a bigger bed or a full size trunk ill rent one from lowes or home.depot. kind of thing.
And I am not.trolling but honestly asking legitimately.

I don't go off road nor really have any real want or need to, however I do need to drive in some bad and nasty weather so looking between the 2 trims if a rear locker would say help in bad deep snow along with bigger tire and a small 2-2.5" lift.
I dont plan on doing any cutting as I plan to only go big enough tires but no rubbing.

 

I get that kind of MPG as well with my 4x4, but I suspect that'll change come winter. Plus I don't know how you drive compared to me. I love the MPG appeal of a 4x2 pickup, but they're basically pointless where I live. Definitely jealous you can use your locker in 2WD though!

 

Off road. The sport is basically an SR5 with an appearance package..

 

I have an SR5 but no question if going TRD I would get the OR model.

 

Off-road has more features for the money. Especially larger rear differential and Crawl control. Any would do more than most need even SR. I like the look of the skewp and had one on my 4Runner Sport. Can’t see chit in front of you going uphill, like Ray Charles is driving

 

I went with the Sport, 4wd, double cab. Looked so much sharper than the OR. Would it be cool to have a locker? Sure. How often would I actually use it? Either never or almost never.

Sport with MT has the same size rear end as off road and pro. So do all 3rd gen MTs.

 

But then you need to get that tiny little bed

I wish they made crew cab, LB, MT. I’m happy with my auto though, I drive in enough traffic MT would be a pain for DD.

Well you could get the access cab with 6ft.

But honestly my bed havent let me down yet. I was coming from 6ft bed and was a bit worried.

 

They both cost the same, test drive both and flip a coin, you cant lose either way.

 

Yep, even the 16 and 17 SR 4 cylinder MT had the larger rear too.
