So, been Tacomaless for a few years, time for wife to finally pick her new vehicle, what does she want? 2020 OR SB to replace our 2nd Gen that I kinda sold a couple years back without asking her.

Fast forward 1k miles, this is a weird one. Now it’s going to the dealer obviously, it’s under warranty. The purpose of the thread is to document the issue and eventual solution for anyone that experiences the issue in the future after their warranty is up. To be honest it may have been like this since mile 1.

Passenger power window will not go down using passenger door switch. Neither the normal or auto position works to bring the window down. If you bring it down with the drivers side switch you can then use the passenger switch to raise it, in either normal or auto position but can not lower it using the passenger switch whatsoever. Operating the passenger window from the driver side has no issue, up/down auto up/down works fine. All other windows operate correctly.

Being somewhat handy with a meter and wiring schematic I popped the passenger switch off to take a peak despite a service appointment scheduled for next week. I suspected the switch but have ruled it out. With the switch removed I jumpered pins on the connector. Same issue, I can make the window go up by jumping the correct pins but when I jumper the pin for down.....nothing. I’m not gonna dig any further despite my curiosity. Could be broken wire, I don’t think it’s the regulator/motor because it operates fine from drivers side.

If you’ve got ideas feel free to jump in, I’ll keep the thread posted as I get new info. And for reference it’s not the “all lock” window button on the drivers side lol. I know that’s what you were thinking!

There's a window lock on the driver's side. Once pressed the passenger window won't work

I tried disconnecting the battery in an effort to solve the issue. It’s definitely not a reprogram issue as auto up/down works fine from drivers side switch. Auto up works from passenger side, no down.

I wish it was that simple! Lol.

    Again, I wish.

    Thanks I’ll check that out!

Interesting. Wonder if there’s a bad batch of regulators or something.

You mentioned you changed the door speaker. I have changed the tweeter to the popular plugnplay Subaru units. The only other thing that’s been done is that the local dealer added the factory remote lock/unlock actuator and associated harness for the tailgate about 2 weeks after I took delivery. I believe that harness is plugnplay but maybe the botched it?

You should NOT be doing anything on a brand new truck! Let the dealer figure it out!!

I generally agree. As mentioned I have significant experience with a meter and a schematic. Figured I might get lucky and find a loose connector, blown fuse, something obvious. When that didn’t present itself? I’ll leave well enough alone. Will let the dealer handle it next week. The purpose of the thread wasn’t to keep digging a rabbit hole on a truck with a warranty. It was just to see if anyone else has experienced the issue and to document it. When I googled the specific problem I got zero relevant responses to the query. When the issue is resolved I’ll post that resolution so future readers have a source to refer to.

Assholes n opinions notwithstanding, OP, you didn't mentioned that last detail.
The tailgate T taps into the power from the lock & unlock wires but it does not carry the switch signal. That is another connector.

Well spoken and rational. You'll do just fine here buddy. Like @caribe makaira said, they probably botched the wires in the kick panel.

I had forgotten until I checked that other thread about "Shorting Window Switch". It triggered my memory. You're right there's a harness that tees into the existing lock/unlock harness. While it's in the general area I'm not sure that modification is related. It was an easy couple connectors to undue and put it back to original orientation. Did not resolve the issue.

Following the diagram you posted. If I jumper pins 7&5 on connector P21, window goes up. When I jumper pins 7&4, nothing happens.

Oh ya I'm not overly concerned. It's a minor issue, the window can be lowered just fine from the drivers side control. PIA of having to drop the truck off at the dealer aside, it's not a big deal. Part of the reason I like having my wife in a vehicle that has a warranty is so issues like this can be taken care of easily.

    No Sir.

    Update.

Went out in the truck last night. Status quo, passenger window goes up using passenger side switch but won’t go down, but goes both up and down if you use drivers side switch.

This morning? Passenger side window is completely non-functional. It won’t go up or down even when using drivers side control, something it did 12hrs prior lol. Again “all lock” button is not engaged.

    Strange.

    Fuse is good.

Upon closer inspection. Drivers side switch does nothing for passenger window. It works fine for all other windows. Passenger side switch, if you pull it up the window actually does try to go up but since it's already up it just does that little movement, pressing down does nothing.
