    i think could manage with 37s and 5.29s with my 4 banger. maybe keep a bit less torque on the cvs? v6, maybe more trouble? but ya, ill snap a cv at every obstacle with 35s if i wanted to. just keep doing it with 37s. at some point its just a PITA

    I wish Brian at FROR had released that kit to swap in the 8'' clam shell cause then I'd go for 37s. Especially with the tundra CVs on the LT. Shame it never saw anything but his own truck.

    hang on, let me go get another 7.5" diff from the bed, with all my other spare clamshells ill carry around

    i wish there was a way to just slap a big sheer pin in the axle. something super easy to replace that will snap before it nukes the diff, but then not have to rip apart half the front suspension to swap out a cv. so you gave it too many beans bumping a ledge? oh well sheer pin broke. slap a new one in and try a new line

    Interesting I'd like to have a look if there's a write up of it - I wonder if you could make a custom length solid jack shaft like a manual hub one and cut the outer tube to length.

    Well then you'd need manual hubs and they have a smaller spline count so no thanks.

    There's an artical on 4wd magazine I think with Brian and his 4runner that talks about it. No one has done it otherwise far as I know.

    Gotcha. I was focusing on getting rid of the ADD stub shaft and jack shaft and run a single jack shaft from the clamshell to the CV if you wanted to replicate the parts you wouldn't need to find OEM jack shafts with the ADD gear. If you're running that it might not be too far of a stretch to go with Solo's spindles with d44's and custom CV's. (Hypothetically...) Which at that point I guess SAS starts to sound like a good cost cutting measure which means things are altogether expensive at this point.

    First gen builds keep me excited and motivated to keep pushing on the can of worms truck - 2nd and 3rd gen sometimes too, but there's something about 1st gen builds... Even something as minor as updating interior parts gets me all in on them.

    Eh debatable. Maybe more maintenance, especially with steering but that's it. Anytime I broke stuff on 35's I was bouncing or bound up. But the gains it gave me to do everything else combined with a front locker is incredible.

    But I agree, 37's would struggle.

    if i could do 37s without regearing i would. but i just cant stomach the 2gs right now to do that ontop of tires. maybe a year or so down the road
