I'm looking at gun safes and I'm always open to recommendations. List of features I'm looking for.

    • <$1,000
    • Fire-rated
    • Mechanical lock
    • Enough room to hold long guns and pistols as well as valuable documents. I currently only have 4 pistols but I want room to expand. I expect to add a few long guns at some point, probably another pistol or two.

Tractor Supply or (yes) Harbor Freight has the cheapest options I've found.

I was looking at bass pro too since there's one local. I was just curious if anyone had some first hand experience with one they loved. I'll check out HF and TSC as well, thanks.

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/winchester-gun-safe-12-gun-ts12-30 is the first one I purchased. It's a decent starter safe.

Harbor Freight only has two viable options. I thought they had a couple more. One won't fit long guns, but the other will. So.....

I went with Steelwater, just under $900 for a 20 gun safe and damned good customer service! https://steelwatergunsafes.com/

Edit: Not to mention free shipping, liftgate service, and dehumidifier with purchase.

Update: I spoke with Joe this morning; they recently changed up the hardware and haven't had a chance to update the instructions. Bottom line is the hardware I have is correct and I'm good to go, but wanted to update this for anyone who has or will be purchasing a set of sliders that comes across the same situation I did.

I have them strategically placed throughout the house at the moment. My next one will become a shower gun.

So it's time for another Dave is a moron story. I bought one of those vent register looking hidey holes for a pistol. Easy install, and it's kind of slick. Or so I thought until my wife pointed out that all of our vents are in the floor.

His friends didnt make fun of him.

His significant other, quite possibly. My wife called me ridiculous when I asked about her opinion of bathroom ARs.

One of my friends once told me he is more worried about people stealing his mags than his guns, because mags have no serial numbers and can be sold pretty easily

I bought a hidden tissue box to hide a handgun, my wife then pointed out that we dont buy tissues often because we dont get sick often, much less keep tissues out and about.
