Needing new tires. On a 265/70/16 now but want more tire. 33 inch duratracs is what I’m going to try and fit if they don’t rub too much. But if they do what can I do besides wheel spacers or even aftermarket wheels?

like stated many times on this forum. Its not a lift that determines the max tire size on these trucks its the wheel well size. 265/75R16's are going to be the biggest you can run without having to deal with stuff like cab mount chop, inner fender trimming, pinch weld flattening. Going to 285/75/R16's will likely necessitate the work just described.

He could go larger but narrower to reduce issues with rubbing. As you said, wheels play a big role here compared to the role the lift amount plays. But, tire width is also a big factor. Based on what I've been reading it seems many people are having luck with large diameter skinny tires.

skinnies work (and look damn good IMO) but their options are so limited unfortunately.

I haven't looked much but I'm definitely thinking I'll be looking into skinnies for my next set of tires. Didn't see many options for 16's but there seem to be plenty of 17" options out there. I guess it depends more on if your top priority is a certain size or if it's a certain tire brand/model.

255 skinnies will work if you get spacers or wheels with more pokey offset and a quality alignment.

I have 255 and have only rubbed lightly once on the fender flare lip While flexing and turning through a really lumpy trail with my 300lb buddy sitting shotgun. Other than that I have never rubbed and that includes lots of 4x4ing.

My wheels are 16x8 0 offset.

If you’re willing to cut, 33s can fit. Prepare for a CMC, pinch weld flatten, trim the lower fender flares and fender liners. Snugly fit 295/75R16(33.4”) BFG KO2’s on my Baja couple years ago.
