What model do you have? I only had 1 skid plate! Granted I bought it 15 years after it was made...

Looks like I'm just going rear diff and transfer case now. Thank you for looking for me!

    ‘13 double cab offroad.

I have the front stock skid and whats referred to as the engine undercover assembly. Not sure if your aftermarket skid addresses both of these or not.

Interesting, thanks. I'll have to Google some picture of the OR skids. My aftermarket SOS skid plat goes from right under the bumper to behind the oil drain like the one below. I doubt I'm getting to the front diff without dropping it. Oh well, rear diff and transfer case are better than nothing

I'm assuming the chance of a Chevy dealership changing diff and t-case fluids is slim to none, right? Had the truck fewer than 10k miles but figured I should change them regardless, right?

    New LCAs all together.
Like said, the Moog ones didn't hurt my wallet and I know I can replace if/when I brake them.
If I get good ones I'm going to want armour on them.
And then I spend even more.
Adam the guy at Built for the East, said everything was great and that 3 years on those which you know I abuse:rofl:

Get lucas gear oil or mobile, those you want to be good.
Just fill rear until it starts coming out at you on level ground and your good.
Your probably going to want a pump.
I suggest getting a good pump on account I busted my cheap one cause the oil is thick.

Yes you definitely have to drop it.
The rear is easy, front too just tighter space.
While you're in the rear you should do a breather mod.
@Cativelense did a great write up on this but I don't remember where it is.
It's not something that's make or break...until you start getting in water.

I found it on here, and did it with the help of Jon (who I don't even think is on here anymore for some reason).

    Here's the link: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/differential-breather-mod-for-dummies-pics.15686/

And, instead of buying the parts separately, I know @Blais03 and his bro put together a kit with everything that you need, for a great price. Definitely worth the $$$$$ if anyone plans on doing the mod, and needs to buy the parts. And, I think for fairly cheap, if you drive up to them, they'll even install it.

I also might be having a brain fart right now but t-case and diff are the same oil change.
1 oil change in the front, 1 in the rear.

I find it to be pretty cool that I used to be the newbie like 3 years ago.
Now I know to much, but it's from picking peoples brains like you guys are and seeing what's out there for possibilities.
I'm very pleased to be able to pass down knowledge that was so graciously passed on to me by fellow TWers.
Like I said the very first trip I went on with @mach1man001
The camaraderie amongst most of us TW peeps is second to none.
BTW that is still in the top 5 things I have ever done and accomplished in my life.
Sad part was all my friends and family thought I was nuts for going out there by myself:rofl:

I actually already did that! My breather is up in my bed cubby

    I think that's the guide I used!

Maybe mine is different being standard but it's definitely 3 unfortunately. Front diff, transfer case, rear diff

Front diff 1.6 quarts, transfer case 1.1 quarts

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/front-diff-and-transfer-case-oil-change-howto.147631/

    Rear diff 3 quarts

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/changing-differential-fluid-a-step-by-step-how-to.24545/

And I got Mobil 1! If they sold Redline locally, I'd have used that. Loved it in my Miata trans and diff

    Well I'll be damed:rofl:
The darn transfer case does need oil.
I never did mine on account I had to buy a new 1 last year $$$$$$$$$
(Use your transfer case people, this wasn't my fault well not exactly anyway:D)
    I thought I was having a brain fart.:anonymous:

    @Checkers10160 is learning:thumbsup:

BTW it's actually cheaper to put a stick shift 4wheel drive switch off an FJ... I forget exactly what it's called,
Than it is to buy a new transfer case and it's better too:bananadance:
If I'd known this before I would have done it.
Only thing that most people don't like about it is you have to cut a hole in your floor.:bananadead:

Thank you! I also got 3/4 of my slider holes drilled. Hard pressure, low speeds, keep the bit from getting too hot. Home Depot was sold out of the correct grade 8 nuts so I'm running with only 3/4 bolts on the bottom (Plus another 6 on the side, don't worry) and I'm ready for Vermont! I don't think I'll need the sliders too bad anyways so I'm ok with missing a single bolt on the bottom. Hopefully I will have the mid skid on too.

I don't know about you all but I am SO excited. I have never been on a real trail before, just dirt roads and off shoots. Richy, the trail we hit was easily the hardest, most exciting thing I'd done. I cannot wait for this weekend!

So uhh, who's gonna pull me out when I get stuck? :-D
