    Need opinions! My stereo shop wants me to put a 6600 in my truck. I'm a little concerned it's to advanced for me. My reference to them was it seems like a space ship for a crop duster pilot! I've been using pioneers since 05 & really like them. My basic needs are double din, bluetooth, sat, would like it to work with my android but I've never had this, CD would be nice but I haven't played a CD since who knows? I'm not a complete techno idiot, but the easier the better!
    Thanks
    Troy

    Hi guys, I am trying to install my headunit and I cannot seem to get the rear camera to work. I have a front camera which is working but I am not getting any signal from the rear I have it plugged into the brown av wire (shown in the picture). Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Has anybody with a 2nd gen tried to flush mount one of these? or is the opening not big enough?

    I was thinking the same thing. I would really like to put one of these in my 2014, but I think it might be too big for the opening.

    6600 Specs
    Touch screen:
    W= 9.055"
    H= 3.835"
    D= 1.255"

    6600 Chassis:
    W= 7.015"
    H= 1.985" (without bracket)
    H= 3.835" (with bracket)
    D= 6.635"

    I don't have accurate measurements of the 2nd gen.

    Will this radio work if I remove the JBL headunit & amp? See my post -

    Did anyone have the anytime camera mod before they got this dash? Did anything change? Is your camera button still working or is it useless now?

    Appreciate that. Thanks.
    Does this come with a mic or can it use the stock mic for phone calls?

    Comes with a microphone. The OEM mic is cube shaped and the mic with the Pioneer is cylindrical. Makes for an awkward fit, but once it is installed you can't see it anyway. I ran the mic through the dash, up the pillar, under the ceiling, to the same place as the OEM one, and secured it with strong tape. Seems to work great.

    I won't lie, this was not a complicated install but the instructions provided are poor. Crutchfield was fantastic though, I called them a couple of times and once even used FaceTime so they could see and help me with my setup.

    I would recommend not buying the dash kit. It was obvious right from the get go that it would be much easier to modify the brackets from the original radio than to use the dash kit. Twenty-five bucks down the drain.

    Worth it in the end. All car radio interfaces are wonky for reasons I don't understand and this one is no exception, but it works pretty well and Carplay is awesome. No wireless connection problems.

    Damn. Thanks man. I’m gonna order it today. so wait, did you hide the mic? Or is it sticking on your roof liner like most people do?

    Many of us stash the new mic in the oem location after first removing and unplugging the oem mic. Use some tape or foam to secure the new mic in place so it can also be removed if/when you need to take down the console for some reason. Leave enough slack in the line to allow removal when disconnecting the console harness.

    There's also a rectangular sized aftermarket mic which some have used, I didn't bother purchasing anything extra myself.

    this thread has been incredibly informative.

    my question tho,

    i have 2020 OR but i dont have gps in my current head unit with carplay,
    id like to upgrade to this unit but also add in GPS with the install.
    is that possible? is it just an additional piece of hardware?

    Hidden. I wasn't sure that lying the cylindrical mic on its side would work, so I drilled out all of the holes in this little cover thinking it would help with sound conduction and then taped it down.

    Terrible picture but here's the mic taped into place looking from where the sunroof opens:

    New to the forum,

    I am working on installing in my 2005 2nd Gen with the 12-15’ bezel from Metra for the 5500nex, part #108-TO2B. Personally I ’m not a fan of Metra products but it’s the only bezel kit out there made for Pioneer 8” screens. My 6600nex is on its way so I can’t say if it fits without modification yet. I’ve been researching and looking for actual screen measurements of both but have not came up with any. The ones mentioned above is all I’ve found and those can’t be the outside screen measurements as the opening for the 8” Pioneer is almost 5” tall.

    Anyone that has the 6600, can you provide outside measurements of the screen?

    Go to the thread linked below. It’s long but most, if not all of your questions should be answered.
