What do you folks do to take care of the composite bed-liner and keep it from deteriorating and etc...?

I throw plenty of beer cans and bottle caps back there..

I've got at least 3 run spots where I have spilt oil and in ran out the rear while driving. Those spots look really black and nice.

I've never used the bed, plus I have a bed mat so who knows what's under there.

Throw dirt and brush in it. The coating of grime keeps the plastic safe.

There is zero problem with bed deterioration.

I snagged that grippy bed mat from Toyota, it's doing the job fine so far. I figure whenever the back gets gnarly it'll just be time to rhino/line x it.

Take it off the truck and keep it shrink wrapped in a climate controlled bunker.

    Muriatic acid and chlorine.
I haven't had a issue carrying pool chemicals for 13 years in them. Sweep and hose it out every so often, that's about it.

The better question is how to get rid of those bright white marks when you scratch it.

On a completely unrelated note, I don't recommend carrying a bike with studded tires in the bed. :anonymous:

In my 15+ years of working on Tacomas I've seen 2 damaged beds. One was accident related, one was abuse. It's stuuuuuuuuuuuupid rare to damage the beds.

And if you're worried about scratches, just get the bed mat.

Gotta put plenty of fresh scrapes in it with various tools, bikes, crushed beer cans, etc. It's like sanding old hardwood floors to give them new life.

I have a bed mat but still only haul clean stuff in the bed. Junk like old fence boards go on my trailer.

I also have the Toy LB liner. One time I took that off and sprayed the bed off with hose water (causes cancer in California). But never did that again, just too much work.

+1 on just using the water hose when it gets dirty.

It just adds a little grip!

I scratched the hell out of mine and my tailgate with a cooler that had sand stuck to the bottom. Oh well, it's a truck and is used as such.

These beds certainly can use any help they can get with grip. The rubber bed mat was my first "mod". That plastic is SLICK when wet.
