The parts aren’t interchangeable on 5 lugs (what I’m assuming you’re referring to here) and 6 lugs. If you bought a set of coilovers for a regular cab 4 banger prerunner, which I’ve yet to see any vehicle specific coilovers for mind you, you could possibly lose a bit of ride height. However, if the place where you bought those from was somehow producing different coilovers for all the different cab and engine combinations for a 20 year old truck, I’d like to see it.

I didn’t even think that was possible that the 5 lug shocks would fit cuz doesn’t it have shocks that can be replaced without taking the springs out??

I know but when you think about it. u got a heavier engine then u got the added 4wd and the double cap all that weight you can’t use one spring rate to hold two different weight vehicles

It sounds to me like you replaced the shock and spring as a completely assembled unit? Is that true?

If so, unless you disassemble the spring from the shock you can't compare the length accurately. The springs are going to be compressed some. To keep your original springs, and just replace the shock part you would need a spring compression tool. Do you have or rent one of those? You can do this without one but it is not as safe or easy.

Take a little time and post exactly what your truck model is. Single cab, extended cab, or double cab. Sport, SR5, Off Road, Pro. Long bed or short bed. 4cyl or 6cyl. Auto or manual transmission. 6 lug wheel or 5 lug wheel. 4WD or 2WD.

I know it's tedious but the more information you provide, the easier it is to help you. People on here are super helpful but you need to give up some info. When you're not willing to do this the same people trying to help will get frustrated and ultimately unfriendly.

Take a breath, and Help us to help you.

I’d still like to see how different the height difference would be for a double cab vs. extra cab. I’d guess less than 2” since you’re really adding sheet metal which would be negligible once you have any kind of load in the bed of an extra cab, a couple doors and a couple seats.

Double cabs didn’t come out until 2001. If it’s a 99 then you have an extra cab which throws the info in that link out the window.

It sucks but it looks like you’re going to have to buy new ones unless that site allows you to return them. You could buy just coils, but if you figure you’re going to have some potential issues it could be more effective cost wise and sanity wise to get what people recommend based on your wants.

But I don’t wanna do that and still have the same issue my problem is when you go online shop anywhere they all have only 1 part number for the truck don’t matter what options you put they all come out to same part number

Tons of info on here as to what to buy. Did you see the info in the link @JaCado put in here? You won’t get screwed if you patiently go through other threads on here.

Does anyone know the front ride height for the xtra cab from center cap to the fender?

Why not a side pic of the actual truck?

This could solve a lot of guess work here.

Spring rate I bet is much lower than stock; look how compressed that spring is.

    Non adjustable right?

How about a picture of the side of the truck, as in, the whole truck.

He's not wrong. There is something wrong with the chain store/internet cross referencing.

I just went thru this entire bullshit scenario. Wanted exact oem or equivalent springs and shocks. Installed new replacementd and I was lower than original set that had 300k on them.

I got so tired if ordering or buying local that I gave up and just installed some one inch spacers.

I was getting fast as fuck changing out coilovers. 20 minutes to do assemblies, 50 minutes to compress springs and swap out shocks. I'm not bragging. I was pissed.
