While installing a Meso Customs dome light I shorted the circuit. I replaced the previous bulb and the interior lights are still out. Replaced the fuse and lights are still out. Searching the forums everybody solved the problem with ether replacing the fuse, reversing the bulb, or bending the contacts. What path do I take now that Doesn’t lead to the dealer?

I just ordered the dome light v2 from @MESO. Interested in the response.

    Ahhh bummer:(
How did you short the circuit? The bulb adapter has metal ends, but it would be tricky to touch both at the same time...
As for fixing it.. double check ALL other fuses just to be sure.(multimeter is the best way)
Also, disconnect your battery for 5-10min. MY reset anything in the system. Keep us posted

The contacts where too wide so when the “bulb” thing was being inserted it was too loose. It would make contact the lose it then make contact again, if that makes any sense. The map and dome lights flickered together then went out. Took the battery cables off for 20 minutes and it didn’t fix it.

I see what you’re saying. The factory contacts were bent out not making a good connection. What bulb was in there before? Stock or aftermarket? Just for my own notes because I haven’t had a fitment issue with the new festoon adapters(the bulb adapter thing)

man.. I don’t know at this point. The maps and domes are on the same circuit.
The last resort (and I only know this from experience)
Another customer shorted his And I had him send me his overhead console. ended up being a burnt trace in the overhead circuit board. Toyota has a really small ground trace and it’s the first to go. PM me if you want I can see what we can do

I thought I was experiencing the same thing until I found this post.

It says to make sure the switch between the two map lights is not set to off. I did not realize that switch also controlled the dome light. Hopefully this is OP's issue as well.

I got off lucky. I took my truck into the dealer and explained my problem and the trouble shooting I had done. They first wanted to replace all my LEDs back to factory but I reminded, them that the whole circuit was dead not that I had bad bulbs. They called me back and said I had blown the fuse, they popped a new one in and everything came back to life. I replaced the fuse twice last night and the fuse that was in there when the problem first started is in another slot and that circuit is operating just fine. I’m still scratching my head wondering what the f*** happened.

I also wanted to say thanks to MESO Customs, they were going to look at my overhead console and help me look for the problem up there at no cost. Very outstanding customer service.

This just happened to me as well. Got my dome today and now all my interior lights are dead.... Guess I have to locate the right fuse. Can you tell me which one it is, under the dash or in engine compartment? Sorry for the dumb question, new to Tacoma trucks...

Thanks for sharing guys. 99% of the time I’m sure the install goes well, but there is still a chance that things could go wrong.
It’s a good reminder to disconnect the negative terminal of your battery before working on the electrical system of the truck.

Here's what I'm looking at... Anyone can guide me to the right fuse?

There's another fuse box under the driver side foot well inside the cab, that's where the dome fuse is located.

To update my situation the fuse was not the only problem, it turns out MESO Customs was correct in his theory. I smoked the upper console which is about 150 to replace.

    Ahh.
It’s a flaw in Toyota’s design IMO. The copper trace on the circuit board(in overhead console) is very thin and can go before the 10A dome fuse (Which is stupid because that’s the point of the fuse)
Like I said, it’s an easy fix just let me know

Same thing happened to me. Blown 7.5a ECU-ACC fuse under dash fuse panel.

    *UPDATE*

I replaced the fuse and everything is working fine now. Just glad it wasn't the whole upper panel that went. Thanks to @LivinOnEdge for helping out with locating the right fuse.
