Anyone flashed the canned Magnusson SC VFT tunes yet? I'm flashing a buddies MT that's getting his SC installed and wonder how it compares to the 2.0.

    @OVTune

These are my thoughts on my first successful tune edit after it has fully settled.

    -- 04B14 SFOB Prem on 92
-- 1st and R limits set to 100% in all modes
-- Speed Limiter set to 312
Assuming that is KPH, so 200mph
    -- CC set to 10
    Could be KPH or MPH?
-- Air Load Control maps set to the V2 values shown here:

Please pardon me, as I got excited with the Air Load Control smoothing when you posted about it here:

    Air Load Control Map Edits:

A lot of us assumed that your post was for both MTs and ATs. Since you have clarified that. Regardless, I feel that it made a significant difference in the tune?

Overall, this tune edit feels great to me. Gone is the little torque bump at moderate throttle (30% shown?) in 1st Gear. A few of us had noted that it would seem like we were unintentionally attempting to race the car in the next lane. :D

Power is smooth and strong. Heavy (not WOT) throttle launches feel better than ever, which is amazing considering my hack job on top of your killer work.

MPGs are holding steady at about 21mpg. The tank where I was reflashing and Resetting a few times dropped an MPG or so, but this settled tune is solid and happy. About 500mi to 600mi.

I am looking forward to messing with the Primary Throttle Torque Target map again in the future after experimenting with 87 octane on this current tune.

Post Edit: On the Lambda values, can you confirm this guess: I believe Lambda 0.99 is for 14.7:1 Commanded AFRs and Lambda 0.82 is for the lower Open Loop Commanded AFR ratio of about 12.0:1? Also, I know that you said the 04B04 tune that you made has the same values between 0.82 and 0.99. But, what does the ECU do when it is between those two maps? Does it average the values or just use one map or the other? Basically, I am wondering if I make my 0.82 and 0.99 match, which way I might go about that.

    Other Edits:

-- I have checked WOT takeoffs in 4Hi, and it feels nice. I did not get a full feel for it though, and no offroad with it yet. I think there is less bogging? 4Lo using the 2LM feels very nice also. I used barely any throttle though. Just like not being limited. It's a personal problem.

-- I have not tested the Speed Limiter and do not know if I ever will. I am just happy that it is not there.

-- Problem / Issue: I have tested the CC change (I have tried both 1 and 10. Units?), and for some reason, 25mph is still the slowest that I can set it to. I would really like to be able to at least get to 10mph? Any thoughts here?

Future vF Access / Wish List, when you have time:

-- Final vF Instructions / Map Explanations.

-- DFCO in 1st Gear to match 2nd through 6th.

-- Option to kill the AntiStall function.

-- Option to lower Cold Start High Idle RPM.

    -- Rev Hang patch.

    -- Tune Switching?

-- Pipe Dream: Any possibility of accessing other ECUs, like HVAC and whatever ECU controls the Key In chime. :annoyed:
Also, ability to keep power to the windows while unlocked. Is that ECU controlled or a physical relay? Long time wish there!
-- I remembered the last wish: Can the clutch switch(es) be eliminated without affecting the tune?
I acknowledge the risk with a live clutch. Our Saab had one as did my last two bikes. About 250k and never a problem, plus personal responsibility!

    Thanks again!

I don't have my laptop with me to confirm, but I think you can adjust the cold start high idle rpm. I haven't tried to, but I think I've seen it in there.

Saaa-weet! I honestly have not looked at vF since a couple cold starts reminded me of it.

I will get in there and look.

Looks like my ECU numbers need a little uptick. The alternator currently sits between 14.45-14.57 volts but never going over 14.59 while running even on the freeway.

Have you thought of anything to help a brother out as to why my truck shifted so hard? How would I adjust the torque tables to my benefit?

    Edit:
The only time it's EVER shifted even remotely unacceptably was shown on the video. But it did it consistently in that particular situation. I've since then lowered the shift speeds to hopefully get rid of it. Haven't had the chance to push it again.

I found what i needed this morning.

I went to the opposite end of the spectrum and turned my pedal into a sponge.

Now i just need to modify it to my liking.

Basically i put the throttle primary back to stock.

Then i put the stock 1st gear throttle table in.
(Didn't change the other tables since the patch only looks at first gear)

I then left my smoothing in there and increased the air cap by 10% across all ranges that were under 89.5

I'm going to modify the primary and 1st gear tables to increase the responsiveness in between my current state and the previous state.

@MOC221_ i did not have that lunging once i did this

    Toyota Stock or OVT Stock?

Is that the Air Load Control maps?

Yes. That is the approach that OVT noted. It was just that I found a solution with the Air Load Control maps before OVT noted they were more for the ATs.

    Toyota stock

And the air load control i increased by 10%

Instead of a max throttle of 55% it went over 60 but i haven't looked at the log to see the actual number yet (it was 4 am driving to work)

When i get home I'll show exactly what i did so far.

I think the the throttle goes like this:

Primary target, reference gear, gear chooses torque request, torque request reference air load, then it chooses the throttle plate position

    Thanks!

Toyota Stock is interesting. I need to look at the difference between that and OVT. I still have the question about why the max torque near redline is less than the rated engine torque, esp there.

I have seen max throttles at 87.5% in the past. You should definitely see more than that?

I agree with Primary Throttle and Gear, but I think it gets a hella lot more complex after that? I do like OVT's explanation that the Air Load Control maps relate MAF to the missing MAP value.

Can we get Gandalf to weigh in on these theories?

I'm being serious, I want to know from Mat how these tables interact..

 I just envision that tortuous flow chart that he posted.

If anyone would like to dump the 04B04 Stock and OVT Air Load Control map values into a spreadsheet, that would be sweet also.

Does anyone have the 04A71 SFOB Premium VFTune file they could PM me? I am an original dongle user that did the trade-in and have unlocked my ECUID, but I am still waiting on the tune pack from Mat. I would like to start working on a 2.0 file to test out on an upcoming trip. Cheers!

The difference between the two is actually fairly subtle. I'm going to adjust the primary first then move to the gear map, im thinking the primary is just asking for percentages of the other in some form.

As for torque near redline, doesn't torque and hp normally fall off near the end of the rev limit since you have achieved the maximum airflow for the engine?

You just need to email zendesk and request the tune pack. They are available.

Cool. I will look closer for the fun of it.

Yes, but I would imagine that the ECU would still Command max torque? I suppose if the map was only going to produce rated torque, the values on the right side would match the torque curve the whole way? Of course, it might be a coincidence that the value (in N-m) on the right at 600rpm matches our rated max torque (in ft-lb).
