Looks like you possibly are not on 04B04? I think the maps possibly do different things from one ECU to another. I do know that the "throttle limit normal gears" table affects D mode for another ECU but if affects ECT mode for 04B04. Try modifing more of the maps for locking 4th gear and see if it still locks up. If it doesn't lock you at least know one of the tables gets you what you want and then its just matter of trial and error per map until you know which one it is.

Yeah I’m on 04A61. And it seems like it locks later in 4th gear than it used to. Later such as higher speed in 4th. So maybe the 4th gear 2-7 maps are as speed increases. And I opened up the locking 4th gear 7 map and those values are already maxed. So I’ll just have to work my way through them and see what happens. It’s not partially locking so that’s a good sign.

Lol see I dont think I even have a gear 7 in my maps.. Not at my tuning laptop at the moment so cant confirm but I'm pretty sure 04B04 doesnt.

EDIT: Also in stock form Map 1 and Map 4 are already maxed out, I know that for sure so it doesn't seem like our maps are entirely the same unfortunately...

I also noticed yesterday that all of the 3rd gear locking map and maps 2- I think 4 or 5 were already maxed out and I don’t experience lock up in 3rd.

That would be a good question for the Webinar from @OVTune
What do the TC locking individual maps control for each gear?

But honestly my truck runs so damn good right now with just the airload tables, shift points and throttle limits updated that I’m not even going to worry amount the tc lock up anymore and wait until after the webinar to dig deeper.:mudding:

Now I understand why it takes so long for @OVTune to complete and release 2.0 final maps since all ECU’s are so much different.

Yeah I was never one to complain because I knew they were complex but now that I know, complex is an understatement lol

I remember seeing that as it reinforced the reason I DIY a lot of things in my life "except". Experts are good at what they do and certainly earn my hard earned cash when it's clear I submit.

somehow we need a sticky page where all the confirmed solutions can be posted. Anyway you can convenience the moderator to assist in this effort? I've read a lot of posts with keys to the puzzle but this thread is growing like crazy and there has to be a way to separate the lessons learned so they can be easily found.

That was prior to me even investing in Ovtune but I came from a pro tuned Sti which took months and months and months of logs and revisions to finally get it right. Then I traded it for my Taco and started all back over haha

Damn I can't imagine having to dissect this by parsing assembly. Not a good time.

So I raised my tc locking 4th gear 2 and s2 across the board and now I'm noticing it locking at 2600rpm under 25% throttle. I think it would be better to keep it unlocked for longer. Guess I'll try raising them some more to see what happens.

    1. Can you explain the logic for how the ECU determines which of the 7 shift maps to use?
    2. Same for the multiple TC clutch lock and unlock maps.
    3. What is the definition of "acceleration" for the acceleration shifting maps to be active?
    4. Can you confirm the recent forum discovery for partial TC clutch locking? Can you talk about advantages / disadvantages to partial lockup?
    5. Would you be able to explain mechanically what is happening in the TC during partial lockup?
    6. Can you step through the calculation to get from accelerator pedal position to throttle plate angle?
    7. Can you explain the significance of manifold pressure for the above, and how exactly does the ECU try to calculate / guess what the manifold pressure is? Basically I would like some more detail about what the airload control maps are trying to accomplish.
    8. I'd like to learn more about tuning intake valve, ignition, and exhaust valve timing in a future webinar. Not sure I will have the brain power left over if you are able to cover the above points first.
Thanks. It would be great if you can post the webinar afterwards for those who can't view live.

    Spot on.
I would put airload topic at the beginning of the seminar.
Ignition, fuel, vvti can be part 2.
    Please skip on VF usage.
