So I spent some time looking at the TC Locking tables last night and I came up with an understanding of how they may work. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

So for example 3rd gear locking at throttle angle 10 in the graph and it’s set at let’s say 35kph. So at 10% throttle angle it will lock anywhere under 35kph. Then same goes for the higher % of throttle angle and speeds in the tables.

yes. pull up your tune in vF but edit nothing. export it with a new name, and edit away. then your original is safe.

take a look here to see the tables which you can pull up in your tune, using the new exported file you made for editing. just a start, there's more info around. look up @banjoist13 's posts and @Shellshock 's

It will lock above 35, not below. Also I can’t check right now but I believe it is accelerator angle (the pedal), not throttle angle (the valve).

Yeah I looked back at one of my screenshots and it’s accelerator angle. Also after reading that and looking at the table that makes a LOT more sense lol. Not sure how I understood it the other way around

you really should take the VFT plunge. I was in the same boat - not sure because the P5F was so easy - but VFT is even easier. Just read the installation instruction a few times and BE PATIENT when waiting for the software to launch - it takes a very long time so what ever you do don't double click twice - give it time. Using the basic software is simple. Hint - make a separate desktop folder for your virgin tunes and subfolders for your work - then use Export to save your modified tune with naming terminology to suite your need. We are all d*mbass to start.

From my understanding and testing I've come to this conclusion. The downshifting and TC unlocking tables, if you graphed each point in the map on an X-Y chart and then drew a direct line to each point. The area under that curve is what would trigger that downshift or unlock. The inverse works on locking and upshift tables. Plot the points and any intersection of points above that line you drew is where an upshift would occur. I used excel to graph out each individual shift and TC table so I can fine tune it with something visual to compare to.

Again, this is what I've tested and feel I've confirmed but I havent seen it confirmed from the man himself yet. I'm taking silence as consent on this one.

I need to graph out my tables and see what it looks like. I went through all TC Tables for gears 4-6 and raised the TC locking and unlocking tables up 10 in each cell. And raised all S2 maps to t he max to get rid of partial lock. Haven’t really had a change to test on the highway to see how the higher TC lock points work with highway driving.

How did you determine or calculate the values to put into the per gear tables? Did you reference anything in the throttle request to airload?

The upper end of the values made sense. I have eliminated locking in 1st - 3rd, but not sure how aggressive I want to get with 4th. Looking again at the 2 tables (and the 2 for unlocking 4th) I see the angles are not equal between 2 and S2. That was throwing me off as I was fixating on the first few speed values, ignoring the angles. Your description of plotting on a graph helps too!

someone did, i made an educated guess on it.

I did some math and converted based on top speed from google, and top speed as listed in VF tuner.

I posted the "conversion" but that doesn't mean its correct

Anyone who has purchased additional credits: did the new credits get added to vF Tuner right away or was there a day or two wait? My order for credits shows fulfilled but so far no new credits showing in vF Tuner. Sent a query to @OVTune but no response as yet.

Mine took a few days but then I sent in a ticket to OVTune. The same day it was resolved.

For those thinking about taking the plunge, here's where I stand today:

    October 5th, 2020 (Monday):
    0900 EST Ordered VF Tuner
1000 EST Received email with download link
1700 EST Downloaded and installed VF Tuner via the provided instructions
1800 EST Emailed System ID to OVTune

    October 7th, 2020 (Wednesday/Today)
1530 EST Received email with registry key
1630 EST Downloaded and installed registry key

    ***Update #1:***
    October 10th, 2020 (Saturday)
0900 EST Received tracking info. Cable expected to deliver on the 14th.

    ***Update #2:***
    October 14th, 2020 (Wednesday)
    1400 EST Cable delivered
1800 EST Played around with Techstream and got my ECU ID sent off to OVTune. Awaiting their response.

    As of October 7th:
Still waiting on the cable to ship, but I'm not concerned, I know it's coming. I wish I could provide answers to the somewhat confusing message on their website that says "2 week lead time on cables right now (estimated 9/20/20)"
I don't know if that means they haven't updated it since 2 weeks prior to September 20th or what. I'm expecting to see the cables ship in the next two weeks, receive the cable in the next 3. This is a very slow process, but again, I'm being patient and OVTune is proving a great service for a great price.

I also received my battery tender/maintainer and installed Techstream, thanks @tonered

Question for the guys/gals who bought the Tacoma pack and have unlocked multiple ECU's:
I have a 2017 model I'm going to flash as well. I know I can unlock it by buying more credits, but I'm curious if I'll have access to the tune files for that year model or if I'll only have access to the tune pack files for my model year and just the ability to tune the 2017 from the stock files once unlocked. Anyone have an idea on how that works? I assume I'll have access to all the tune files for the unlocked ECU's, but would like to find out before I purchase the extra credits.

    You're welcome!

Yes. You will have access to all of the Tune Pack files that you receive and for any other files with your same ECU ID.
