I'm guessing the battery is dying, however it could be mud and silt packed into the starter from submerging it, or corrosion causing the pinion gear to bind as it is sliding forward to engage the ring gear. Unlikely, but maybe damage to the pinion gear or ring gear teeth preventing them from meshing.

I spoke with @3JOH22A and I guess I was carried by my ambition with the Concession Lake trail...
Not happening for a long while ,if ever. Out of what I've learned, Picard Lake might be challenging enough.

When it does crank it sounds strong - probably not battery.
Fuel injectors, fuel pump or cam/crank sensors don't affect cranking - they'd be suspect if the engine doesn't run after cranking or misfires.

My guess is contaminated starter like @weight says or loose/contaminated wiring connection to the starter.

Another possibility is gremlins with the security / smart key system, but I don't think any of that went below the water line.

New starter at the dealer is $530 + tax. "Pure Energy" reman is $200 on Rock Auto. Or you can try your hand at taking yours apart and cleaning out the innards. The FSM has detailed instructions on it. Looks like no special SST tools are required:

#1 Agree as you can hear the solenoid engage right away ... but then the starter motor seems to "stall" for a second so nothing else seems to be interfering.

#2 Agree, these starters not only supposed to have the torque to turn the engine but to be used to "crawl the truck" on a MT
that sounded like it had just enough to turn the engine over ... after a second.
I'd clean the connections first (with battery disconnected)

#3 I doubt it would be any one of those as you hear the starter solenoid engage right away an no other solenoids click for the starter motor itself when it finally turns the engine.

If the battery is good under load, then connections at the starter, then contamination inside the starter motor itself...

If it is the starter motor itself it is rare that the windings are shorted out so you in a lot of cases can "rebuild" the starter which on most cases is just replacing the brushes (yours may be just dirty)

There is a small pause after starter solenoid engages and then the motor turns over, at the instant the motor starts to turn it does not start with "vigour" but once it starts turning it sounds just fine.

The motor uses a huge amount of amps as it first starts to turn the flywheel, then after the initial 2 or 3 degrees of the flywheel turning the work required to turn the engine goes way down so the starter requires less amps.

I had to replace my starter within a month of swamping my old truck at Ardbeg. A year later, had to replace the alternator too... The headlights were totally under water, this pic was taken after moving the truck back:

the issue is the time between the first click. and it actual turning over.
0:06 seconds you can hear fuel going in, then a click
0:08 seconds is the engine turning over
0:09 seconds is the engine starting and running.

that 2 second gap between that first click and the engine turning over NEVER existed before.

it always turned over the second i hit the ignition.
