I don’t feel confident in my skills in tuning that thing especially since I’ve never done it so I’ll be taking it to a tuner to use VFt to see if they can dial in a tune

And yet somehow all us yahoos are doing better than toyota (of course with a huge assist from OVTune)

Could you imagine a small tire, re-geared forced induction truck with the throttle limiter removed???

I've done a bit of searching and browsing, and so far it seems like @ry18Tac is the only one who's shared a 04A61 tune. Is that correct?

I've been sitting by the sidelines recently, but considering the state of the OVTune thread, I guess I better jump in and start learning VFTuner. I'm just looking for some examples and context on what has been done already. It's nice that all 3rd gen ECUs can collaborate and share information when it comes to manipulating the software, but ultimately we each need tunes that are specific to our ECU. I'm hoping that some form of organization eventually comes along (like specific ECU threads or something), but I'm not sure what that might look like.

Either way, it's great to see so much collaboration happening. I think some really fun tunes are in our future.

For the most part I incorporated everything @Mooseditty17 and @ForceOfG have for the 04B04(I think) ECU and it’s worked great! Only thing we’ve found different is 18’s and up have more shift tables, and the torque converter tables are a little different.

Another question. If I upgraded from OVTune to vF Tuner for the special $79 price, does that include the tune pack? If so, do I need to do anything special to access the tunes from the tune pack?

I'm on the most recent version of vF Tuner (1.2.6), and I've unlocked 04A61 ECU, but I am only able to find the stock tune.

BTW, I just flashed @ry18Tac 's tune with the vF Tuner software, so I know it's working. Looking forward to testing it out this afternoon.

Your newest premium tune but modded for 4.88’s, 32’s and AGM is pretty damn neat. It holds gears 1-3 longer and when you want it to go it goes. Going to give it 500-1000 miles before I fully comment in detail. So far the gear hang in 4th is very interesting around town. The tip-in is damn near perfect.

Please let us know how @ry18Tac ’s tune (0A461 rev5.5?) works for you.

I’m looking to try it as soon as I can get a tankful of prem gas. Tks

04A61 Here with 32's and 4.88's. Happy to de-customize what I'm running for anyone with stock. I've made quite a few edits, notably 15% increase in shift points for the Primary shifting tables, 25% for ECT button (20% for 5th & 6th), ACIS, Torque Converter Lock Up, Throttle... All of the "must have's" from reading the thread. Haven't messed with S-mode or gear lock trickery.

Question, since I searched and didn't find anything other than people asking, but do "we" know what tables Adaptive and Regular cruise control rely on? The truck regresses when I activate cruise (4th gear hangs, for example) which I don't get in normal drive-mode or with ECT. Is it based on the 2-8 Primary Shift Tables (which I haven't messed with) or Acceleration Shifting Tables (which I haven't messed with)?

I took it on a 10 mile spin this evening, and I really like it. I've been tuned since 1.05 though, so it's not like it blew my mind. That being said, I'm definitely giving it 1,000 miles or so before I make any real judgements.

I will say that so far, I definitely like it more than the 2.0 base.

I have asked that question about cruise control maps in the past and Mat said we did not have access in Vftuner YET. But he was going to make an announcement about it. Any news @OVTune?

My truck always seems to run better on e0 (even 87). Usually a little better mpg too it seems

    MAJOR EDIT:

So the S Mode thing was an EPIC FAIL.
But I did learn a few things, resulting in these two files.

Same as the previous signature tunes, but initial tip in increased. To be honest, I'm VERY happy with the way my truck is running on this tune, and I'm just going to run this file for a while now... Or at least until I learn some more from @OVTune this weekend.

Perhaps Matt can steer us in the right direction to help us achieve our common goal. Making Tacomas Great Again.

Yeah - I saw that in my search. I think it was back in September (the 20th) if memory serves. Just wasn't sure if I missed something in between then and now that I missed. Thanks!
