    @farmdit,
    Sorry to be noisy, but may I ask what transmission & rubber in/on the above Taco?
    Why because my 2.7l w/ manual 5 spd. had a 3.31 gear & when I went to 255/50-19 or 29” tall tire the truck fell on it’s face! I first went w/ 4.10 but it was to low. So I traded an member for 3.73 gear.
    Auto 2.7l’s come with a 3.58 gear. You can find complete 3rd. members for as little as $150 plus a gasket & fresh lube... If you can change your oil you install a 3rd. member. Just my .02 cents.

    4.10s u want 31-32s or 33s, no less than 31, sucks u had to switch around. I have 3.58s with mt on 235/75/15s or 28.9 in tire and it does well

    I've got the Auto transmission with an ECGS 3rd member w/4.56 gearing and ARB locker sitting on 265/75/R16's (31.6"). The gearing is perfect with the 4.56 and the 32's; in (remember: auto) 4th gear I'm sitting at 2500rpm at 70mph. Third gear maxes out at around 95mph, so it's perfect for passing. With the controllable height the rear airbags give me, I can easily tack on a few hundred pounds in the bed without any sag whatsoever and still a comfortable ride and reduced body roll. My motorcycle can ride on it's hitch carrier and still not experience any rear sag, which really helps with the decrease in departure angle that thing brings when in use.

    I was initially set on the 4.10's but decided to go with 4.56 and just go another tire size up if the RPM's were too high at cruising speed. It turns out to be right where I like it, and I drive a considerable amount on the highway. If I could find someone to fab me custom UCA's I would be pretty stoked. Might try to have a friend build them in the future but they'd be hand made so not easy to replicate for anyone else. Hmmmm

    I imagine if enough of us were to write to Total Chaos we could resurrect their market for 5-lug UCA's? Lol who am I kidding that'll never happen.

    I just called them regarding the old mid or long travel kits and they basically said I'm shit out of luck. It's a bummer because you know they have those CAD files lying around in a folder somewhere they could send to someone for fabricating. Obviously they don't think it's worth the time.

    The hunt continues...

    @5 Lug Fury built some custom ones i thought.... Why not hit him up and start making him some money once he finishes the v8 swap?

    I just might. Actually lurked the hell out of his setup a while back and it lead to some of my inspiration for keeping my 5-lug. A few of my best friends are metal fabricators and if I were to pitch them the idea I'm sure they'd be stoked to produce multiple sets. The only other things to figure out at this point are which coilovers out there would fit and what hardware is necessary to mount them.

    @5 Lug Fury
    Those custom UCA's look great. Which coilovers are you going with? What do you think about getting my buddies to produce some more sets?

    Coilover’s❓ Read this thread and look at all the up adjustment on the shock body. For some reason the Vikings have more travel in the same size shock body.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/5lug-coilovers.541417/

    Also if you could get 12 or more sales for the upper control arms I’m guessing the manufacturer would produce a small run. There’s a lot of setup time in producing just one pair. I’m sure they manufacture many sets at a time... But the issue is that most want but MOST will not pay up! I had upper shock mounts made because everyone wanted them but when it came time to pay 99% disappeared!
    Remember that you’re trying to get someone to manufacture parts for a truck that is no longer available and Toyota probably produce 50 six lug trucks to maybe 1 five lug truck or more.

    Supposedly the ucas may still be in stock here.
    https://bigcountrycustoms.com/product/toyota-05--tacoma-2wd-5-lug-upper-control-arm-kit/

    I'm still working on mine but I have something on the truck for now and will be waiting until Im done with the v8. I think my next set will be boxed and cut from a plasma cutter.

    I've done a couple of tries lol the hardest part is getting enough clearance inside the triangle for the shocks.
    IMG_20200703_140035.jpg IMG_20200704_141933.jpg

    For shocks I got originally tried a hoop on the frame but wasn't happy with it.
    IMG_20200702_123723.jpg

    So I tried ruff stuff shock towers and am really happy how they turned out. The towers fit just in between the uca mounting points and they have alot more room for welds.

    IMG_20200808_103620.jpg

    IMG_20200809_132856.jpg

    I was able to fit 8 in travel king 2.5s with remote resis (standard rod end and flat spring perch). Yes the zip ties are temporary and your mileage with fitment, I tacted the towers with the shocks installed.

    Currently with the v8, frame plating and tranny in it's sitting just below level with no preload with 700lbs springs. Still have to add a bumper and my hydraulic winch.

    IMG_20200809_142143.jpg

    I'll have alot more info once everything is done and driving and believe me I'm going to test it hard lol

    I called in Early june and they said that they do not have the UCAs. They told me that they haven’t updated their site in too long.

    I ended up calling some shop in AZ as well, and the guy tried checking on this universal parts supplier dealer for 5 lug specific icon coil overs as well and said he couldn’t see any anywhere :(

    I also tried contacting Total Chaos and even asked to buy the manufacturing file or something and they just straight up declined :/.

    I at least feel I’ve tried lol.
