So I have been working with slickanddirtymotorsports.com and they are making me a custom coilover upper bracket that will fit the 05-2015 5lug tacoma.

So far I have put together a coilover kit that should get about 2" of drop. I will know once I get all the parts and test it out

If anyone is interested here is what I put together

$165 slick and dirty coilover brackets w/$15 shipping(they will have them up on there site when they are completed for)
    $140 eibach springs 12" 2.5 id 550ppi $70 each
$343.94 QA1 Proma Star Single Adjustable Coilover 171.97each
    $32.97 QA1 thrust bearing kit
    $21.97 QA1 wrench kit
$60 shipping cause I live in Hawaii

    Total $637.88

This should be comparable to the XII performance coilover kit. Everything should be the same except for the top mount.

This is not to knock on XII, as they currently are not for sale. This is merely an available alternative with a more attractive price. I am sure there set is as good or better than going this route.

I will keep everyone posted when I receive all the parts.

    This was the preliminary design.

This is what the final product will look like

If you have any questions let me know.

It should work with the djm kit. All the parts minus the springs will be in next week. I post pics of the fitment when they arrive.

The coil overs will not make camber adjustments. If you have djm upper arms that will help.

    Brackets arrived today.

    63C4A2A8-2F27-4561-B2DE-EE34511AAB34.jpg

I did grind the welds flat on the back of the bracket.
    D6569F86-891B-4C31-BE34-E247FD4493E2.jpg

I also reamed the holes out on the bracket. This was not necessary but I wanted to use one size bigger bolts. The holes were 3/8 and would of worked just fine. But this allowed me to slip it over the stock bracket to show it is a perfectmatch on the bolt pattern.

there is about a 1/2 in between the top shock mount and the bracket. This could of been reduced to 1/4, this would in turn have given a 1/4' more drop.

I am going to try and make some time this weekend for the fitment but I have some family over and might not have time.

Installed height. I only had time to test on one side so the sway bar maybe holding the truck up a little. I am getting 1.75" of drop at the lowest setting. With a modification to the upper bracket like mentioned in the previous post 2" could be achieved.

Brake line bracket, the bracket is made so it can be used on both sides.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

This is at full lock and full sag this is as close as the brake line will ever get to the caliper. At ride height there is significantly more room for the line even at full lock.

Fully assembled photos with correct hardware and brake line bracket. Photos are at ride height.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Brackets fit perfectly there could be some slight modification to the shock mounting hole distance, it could be 3/8 closer to give a full 2" drop.

Anything more than a 2" drop puts the ball joints at a pretty mean angle. To counter this I have a set of DJM arms that I will have re-powdercoated and installed.

I am not sure what XII does with the lower mount bolt, but the factory bolt is 14mm so a 9/16 sleeve is needed from QA1 part number SLV750 this kit is $13 and includes 2 9/16 sleeves. I just mounted the 1/2" sleeve on the lathe and bored it out to 14mm to fit. Also even with the correct sleeve I am thinking about running them inverted as you can see from the pictures the shock bottom only has about 3/32" clearance. I read others having problems with the lower mount hitting the coilover, so inverted would give ample clearance and put the dampening adjuster and height adjuster at the top.

The brake line bracket was easy to make but the hole to mount it needs to be 9/16" which is not that common for most drill bit sets. I actually don't have one but I used an end mil on the Mill to drill it out.

For the height I might order some 10" springs to make up for the lost drop, this will give me more adjustability. But I am also thinking about re-installing the complete front DJM kit with the coilovers and running them at Stock height.

Overall I am pretty happy with the setup and fit so far, I plan on dropping everything off to the powdercoaters on Monday so it will be about 2 weeks till everything is done.

Still haven't gotten the parts from the powder coater yet. But I am still working on getting different bushings for the DJM kit, also need to order new ball joints. I got in on the group buy for XII sway bars so even if it get the parts I wont be installing till I have the new sways.

Update all parts are powder coated and I got all the ball joints.
    IMG_2339.jpg
I just got the new bushings for the DJM kit.

Uppers are from Energy suspension Part number Bulk-2004 these do need to be shorted but should be very easy.

    Lowers are from http://www.barnes4wd.com --- http://www.barnes4wd.com/Poly-Bushing_p_314.html
these fit perfect no modifications needed.

I wanted to replace the bushing cause the old ones do not have the grease channels in them, both listed above have channels to hold grease to hopefully stop squeaking.

Also I am replacing the inner sleeves, the uppers were mushroomed and I do not like how the lowers were made. The lowers have 2 sleeves an inner and outer which is metal on metal I am ordering one new sleeve that will replace both. I am not sure who came up with the lower design but to me it's ridiculous its almost asking to squeak.

Going to get the ball joints pressed in soon other than that just waiting for the sway bars and new sleeves

Update? Also how did the alignment come out. I have the SOS lowering kit, w/ 2015 4x4 leafs and if I go lower then 1.5" in the front I can't get the alignment within specs.
Don't know if the UCA's from the DJM kit will help. Any feedback?

    Thanks!

I have actually been waiting for the sway bars from XII so I can do everything at one time. Everything else is complete, I turned some new sleeves and got new bushings for the DJM kit. I also got the new MOOG balljoints pressed in last week. I'm getting tired of waiting for the sway bars if I don't have a tracking number soon I am just going to go ahead and install the kit.
