I apologize Joey... but if I have a hole in any part of the oil system... one would probably realize it won’t be smart to start it until we fix it....

Driving without that plug will not go well for the truck. Unless you really want to do a LS swap on it for a new motor.

I absolutely agree and if Tacoma World didn't exist I would just tell myself that and go about my weekend. But it does exist....so here we are!

    Trustworthy opinion.

FWIW, when the dealer forgets that part, or the o ring, members usually post up here with a mess under their rig. I kind of forgot about that.

We’ll get through this! Did you find parts at a local dealership or Amazon? Might go for the aluminum housing filter cup!

I was just reading about the aluminum housing to replace the plastic one and I do think I'm going to try and just get one of those instead since it will take the same amount of time and metal is always better than plastic

I’m still with the plastic one but I don’t Over torque the darn thing .... really hand tight is all you need in these and the o-ring to be seated in the correct location

Hey, if you are going to make fun us, be sure to tell the whole story.
You also need to add Trans fluid to the coolant system as well.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
I hate this filter. Why couldn't they just put a normal filter on it? Oil up my arm every freaking time trying to put that stupid plastic drain on, then it's a PITA to get back off.

I agree this has always felt stupid to me than the old canister filters.

Doesn't change the fact that the engine needs oil to run... safe to say if there us a gaping hole in the bottom of the filter housing, that's where the oil will go. As any liquid will choose the path of least resistance and drain out the bottom.

I’d personally stick with a “Toyota” version.... just seen to many aftermarket ones leak. I’m sure some here have them and don’t leak....

Maybe, but worth a shot until Monday, then take it off and return it if its leaking.
