I recently received paperwork in the mail stating my 2017 Tacoma had a recall due to the lack of a proper corrosion resistant compound on the undercarriage when it was purchased from the dealership. I called the local dealership and they said my vehicle was covered by the recall, but that the first time they could do it was a few month out. I told them to put me on the list. They asked me to bring it in a day early so the undercarriage would be dry so the compound could adhere to the metal.

After dropping it off, they called early the next morning (supposedly application was going to take all day) and said it was done. I asked what they did specifically. They informed me that they had installed a few caps/plugs in areas of the frame to keep water out so it wouldn't rust. I asked them why they didn't apply the CRC (corrosion resistant compound) spray and they said that it had already been sprayed when it was new - contrary to what everyone else had told me up to this point.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this recall to see if this sounds like it's on the up-and-up. Certainly sounds strange to me. I'm in PA, which is classified as a 'cold weather state'. We're not shy about putting salt on the roads in winter. I've noticed some minor rust on the undercarriage which has me worried. Even though it's minor, the truck only has 25k miles on it.

    Thanks for any info.

Unless they treated the entire undercarriage your not out of the woods.

My dealer just took care of this for me yesterday, no hassle.

I just got this recall notice via e-mail, waiting for a call back from the dealer now. I had the corrosion protection applied when I bought the truck (salty Nova Scotian roads are merciless) and have taken it in to get touched up yearly since then.

I just had the CRC applied to my frame yesterday by the dealership. The compound they used is still very wet to the touch. Any idea how long it takes to cure? Afraid to wash my truck and spray it all off.
