You don't have to cut the boots of you take this plate off, slide the boot on, and then put the plate back on.

Yeah, never really thought about condensation. Well, we'll see how it goes. Already because of the light color when I turned them on in the gargage, I'm not enthralled with the LEDs, and I haven't even seen them on the road yet.

My guess is that I'm 90% likely to purchase new boots and go with some other solution. Probably non-LED, though the Philips you mentioned sound intriguing. Linky?

Interesting. From how I had to cut mine, I'm not sure that would have worked - the reinforced vent hole/tube sections of the boot were aligned with the heatsink, and were really tweaking the positioning of the LED in the housing. Only by cutting those thicker rubber areas out was I able to get good "bulb" alignment.

Thanks for the pic though - removing that plate is a great route to try for sure!

The metal retainer clip still fits under the rubber piece too.

I feel like I’m misunderstanding. Not that really matters I guess.

So my little 12v masterflow mv50 (something like that) air compressor finally took a crap. I’m thinking about going over board and getting the dual arb compressor. But no way will it fit in the engine bay. Anyone have other suggestions on a good place for it? I thought I’ve seen someone use the back cubby hole but I can’t find it on here.

My boots necked down to the circumference of the shaft between the heatsink and retainer clip, and there was a bunch of rubber reinforcement in that neck down area. Looks like your boot has a big circle cut in it, so all that part is gone. I'm surprised you even had to take off the retainer clip to get the boot on.

But I'm with ya - doesn't matter at this point, hahahaha.

 Here's to hoping I don't mind the color temp.

It's the one thing I dislike about running the LED replacement housings in my old style front. The color temp is just disgusting, it's harsh and it looks like a cheap vehicle that someone put a dollar store HID kit into. But they're more resilient than the old sealed beams my truck came with so it's worth it. Otherwise I wouldn't put up with it. They make LEDs with softer color temp, but you never see them in headlights, which is a shame.

Interesting idea, but you've seen a gel fade before I'm sure. Need to convince one of these Chinese factories to use some softer LEDs

6000 Kelvin is terrible light. At least for my old eyes. That white, white, white light is almost useless for visual depth and adverse weather.

Haven’t got the chance to see what they’re like in snow or rain, but that white light early in the morning definitely takes a seconded to adjust to

I fixt my cracked coil tower today. Thx for the heads up, it wasn't bad but I can see how it could get a lot worse in a hurry.

How long did you compressor last? Think mine is going on 8 years and still going. Was definitely worth the $50 I spent on it.
