totally. One of my employees and his son were bow hunting for bear in coastal CA and wounded one and it ran off into thick brush. CA doesn’t allow a gun in possession. He killed at a range of a few feet - nuts!

Does that mean my 2020 Tacoma is exempt from emissions inspection? Maybe not considered light duty? I haven't heard about that change in the law. I live in an emissions inspection county which borders Mecklenburg County, I suppose the most populated county in the state.

I’ve mentioned this before so for you all that remember bear with me. Being a forester for 35 years I spent much of that time alone and in “dope-growing” country and for much of that I packed. In that period thankfully I never needed it when running into “gardens” but was very happy to have it three times for bears. Only once I pulled the trigger and killed her with one shot at a full-on charge at 25’. Yelling did nothing. Never used/packed bear spray, but based on how fast she came at me I have serious doubts at its effectiveness compared to a well-placed bullet. I figured she was moving at about 25 ft./second and if the spray reaches 25 feet then you have less than one second to hit her with it before she tackles you.

    that’s my two cents...

I live in one of those NC emissions counties as well. Tacoma is classified as light duty, you will only have to do the safety inspection $13.60 for vehicles less than 3 years old and less than 70,000 miles. Took only 5 minutes to have mine done last week.

Totally understandable situation to carry. You were going into a situation were there’s possible danger. I just don’t understand how often going to the mall/get groceries etc having a gun next to the center console is useful. But back to Tacomas I’m sure I won’t change anybody’s point of view here.

We had a code show up on my wife's 2009 Jeep Liberty this past May. Don't remember the number but the repair guys couldn't determine for sure what was causing the code other than an evaporative systems problem. This place has done my inspections for years so I know they are professionals. We had to drive it for a few days to check it again and it ended up being a replacement gas cap. Lucky us.

My 2007 Colorado P0017 code came in the year previously, failed inspection, installed a new sensor went out for a day and came back, I had the oil changed, drove it for about 60 miles and it cleared as I drove by the inspection station so drove right in and passed. Next day came back in and never was able to get it to go out again.

You’re welcome! I know what you mean I don’t drive much these days, working from home. Looking to retire next year unless I can keep working from home. :)

Not sure if you run it that way with the rest of the box empty, if not, may want to consider tethering a Raven Concealment Vanguard inside there.

I'm in Mississippi too. Recent cold front forced me into jeans from shorts. But still in a tshirt.

God, I used to get YELLED at when I was online for more than 10 minutes by my parents (and this was in the days of AOL being a huge thing).

Saying that, there was no "local" dial up for AOL. I had to convince my parents (with the help of a near $600 phone bill) to get long distance covered in their phone line coverage.

Suffice it to say, my mom and dad had a damned near heart attack with that phone bill. Of course I was also about 15 or 16 and didn't realize calling to Memphis was long distance from our house.

Lord help me. I really am showing my age with references to AOL, dial up, and huge phone bills a la land line services. Hell, my mom finally ditched her landline services about 5 or 6 years ago. Took me calling ATT to literally pull the plug for her. She got tired of 2 phone bills, and she hasn't looked back since.

Thanks for the link, I just ordered a set, those look like a great option. Now we can test several types. I will tag you in the photos once I get them here.

That looks really nice. I just can't justify a roof rack's cost because I would rarely use it as my off-roading adventures are limited to 2-3 day camping trips. Same thing with a bed topper. Not only do they look like an afterthought and mess up the look of the truck (personal opinion guys) they also ruin the utility of the bed for me.

Yes, I refuse to call it #overlanding. Even if the people I go with are constantly instagraming the same adventure with #overlanding.

I’m a forest technician down in Texas! Luckily no bears down here, but we’ve got plenty of hogs and snakes.
