So... I'm expecting some lag between this upcoming tuner release and availability of the tune pack for 04B91. I'd really like to play around with tweaking the 04B91 stock tune ahead of then. Looking for detailed guidance on how to eliminate the Atkinson cycle, how to tune for premium fuel, how to tune for better throttle response, etc.

What's the viability of taking select tweaks from the Prem SFOB tune (which currently breaks my truck when flashed) and porting them into the stock tune?

Like... how do you compare two vft files in the tool to highlight the differences? Sorry to ask, but its not in the documentation anywhere.

    Thoughts? Specific tune recommendations?

I believe @OVTune said that for at least the current vF version, we do not have enough map access to create FOB tunes from the Base or Stock files?

You could follow along with @Mooseditty17 's tweaks, as folks seem to believe his tunes get performance hits.

hey guys, i'm trying to find that link that has the 2.0 VFT files. I had the link, can't find it, and i'm going crazy trying to find it. Going to flash the stock 2.0 to a buddy's 04C20, but I can't find the file repository for the life of me!

Okay. Does anyone have a tune file out there for 6MTs which has tuned throttle response and other good tweaks?

Also... is it possible to do a comparison in the tool between two open files? Using 1.2.5.1 currently.

Aren't most of his tweaks for ATs?

There are bits and pieces of how to tune throttle in this thread, but for the most part these are the same details everyone is waiting for.

The top blog post here is AT 2.0 Base Full, not final:
    https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news?page=2

They are not editable. You have to ping @OVTune for a editable VFT Tune Pack after Unlocking the ECU.

I have been trying to keep the current MT stuff here as this thread is really crowded with AT tuning mumbo jumbo:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuning-for-manual-transmission-3rd-gens.687939/

The Compare function works, but it is a bit too sensitive at the moment.

Hell no! The MT is transformed with the 2.0 goodness and a couple edits!

Thanks, Tony. I'll check out the thread and see if I can't pull some tweaks out of MDs work.

Not sure what you mean by the 2.0 comment. I flashed what I think is the 2.0 "stock" tune for 04B91 (89663-04B91 STOCK.vft), which Rafael sent when I unlocked my install for my ECU. Is that different than the factory tune? Meaning, is it the 2.0 tune? I also bought the tune pack but none of those tunes work with 04B91 yet.

    Confused...

    You're welcome!

You asked if most of the tweaks were for ATs. There were a large number for the engine, which makes it perform and drive a lot better as well as improving MT shift smoothness, and the MT tunes have specific features. See the second blog post on this page:
    https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news?page=2

That is 2.0 Stock tune is 04B91 Stock, if you ever want to go back to stock. It seems that you do not have any OV Tunes yet. Of course, you can edit what we have found. It should improve things as some of the maps were not changed in the 2.0 tunes either.

@OVTune is continuing to support us with new things that he discovers in the jungle of the Toyota base tune data.

Got it. Waiting patiently on 04B91 for the 2.0 tunes and will try my hand at porting the MT tweaks you documented / curated in the other thread you linked to before. Really appreciate the responses. Fingers crossed on both my hacks and 2.0 support for the 04B91 6MT!

    Enjoy!

You'll be ready for 04B91 when it drops.

Has anyone tried advancing TC lockup instead of raising the values? Still chasing the magical settings for lock up. Currently running no lock or skip lock in 3rd. 4th gear has bottom two values raised to 38 and middle two values brought up to mid 50s ( don't remember exactly) shifts are smooth as f*** but I'm not sure if it's the newly added lead soles in my driving shoes, or the TC that's making MPGs suffer.... I'd ultimately like to find a balance. Wondering what all you other slush box drivers are doing...

How much are you down? The tunes seem to be a bit more sensitive to colder temps with the longer enrichment cycle and winter fuel blends. If only a couple MPG, that would be about normal.

If you take the same trip on a warm motor, those MPGs come back.

    VERY interesting!
Yes the couple of short trips I've taken without driving like a complete sausage, I've only been down a couple MPGs. Thanks Tony.

I still have summer air in my tires too. It's been in the high 20s to low 30s lately. Plus now that I think about it I'm also letting my truck warm up for about 5 or 10 minutes. Perhaps I'm just overthinking the whole torque converter thing causing a degraded fuel economy.

From my tracking, I would agree.
