I have an appointment on Tuesday and looks like I will be replacing my CV axle on drivers side already....2019 Tacoma sport with 2 inch lift & k02 17 inch tires, only 37,000 Km’s, any thoughts what could have caused this already and will the dealership try to blame on lift? I did have it under coated with krown rust control, could they have F*@%,d it when they hoisted it?

    thoughts please

You lifted it. Yes they can and probably will deny warranty because you changed suspension geometry.

Did you do the Needle Bearing after you lifted it? If not they can do a number on the axle threads.

I actually got the lift from Toyota when I bought it, they sent it to their contact.

the noise is like I’m hitting the side of road that has those safety divots to warn u that your driving off the road, this is the best way I can describe it. My husband jacked it up and spun both tires, there is tension on drivers side.. he believes it’s the cv axle but might not be ....not puking grease

Was hoping to find someone else with same problem, can’t believe there’s already issue with only 37,000 Kms...regretting trading in 2015 Tacoma sport, not a problem with that one

If it is a problem with a cv joint, what's the big deal? It's a common replacement part. On any vehicle.

The problem is not even diagnosed (only assumed) and yet the solutions are flowing.

IF it is CV or suspension related, your saving grace on warranty is that it was a dealer installed lift (yeah, outsourced, same thing)

Get it in and let us know the results.

Whatstcp & Rick, I think u might be right after going through a couple of threads the needle bearing is the problem, I’m not the best at this mechanic stuff, but what should I do let them replace ...is it just going to happen again?

someone on another thread mentions a ecgs bushing...is that something I would do after replacing needle bearing ?

ok that makes me feel better since they out sourced the lift, it’s technically covered by warranty.

I just don’t want to do things twice , cause this other thread is talking about ecgs, should I do that as well as have dealership fix needle or is that same thing , sorry not the best at this mechanic thing

    here is other thread

If for some reason they don’t cover it under warranty, can I still drive it until I get the ecgs ( looks like I have to order from states) and would I have to do both drivers side And passenger side, ?

Dealer won’t likely replace with an ecgs bushing
    Drivers side only
I drove mine for a few weeks before I replaced

Go off the deep end and impress everyone by replacing that pathetic Toyota stock tripod inner joint (CV as u call it) with a high angle/ high strength Porsche 930 inner CV setup(common in off road applications for ifs and irs set ups) :https://jdfabrication.com/collections/gen-3-tacoma-16-6-lug/products/tacoma-2016-934-cv-upgrade

Alternatively you can run RCV replacement axle, compleat assembly:

    https://www.rcvperformance.com/axlesets/toyota/toyota-ifs-rcv-axle-set.html
No it’s not just for long travel.

You have aftermarket lift and different tires ... and don’t expect stuff to go bad ...

Gotsand, apparently it’s not considered after market, as Toyota brought it to their contacts and wrote it on my contract, I paid Toyota for the lift, it’s only 2 inches and the tire size shouldn’t matter, it comes with 17 inch stock and mine are 17 inch k02

Nothing wrong with cv axle. They say they can feel the slight vibration, I have become good friends with parts manger, 3 guys looked it over. I didn’t want to pay for them to pull apart everything to check needle bearing, cause I believe it’s that and if it is they would have replaced with same part and 30,000 kms later I would be replacing anyway wth the ecgs bushing. so I took Whatstcp & Rick advise and ordered a ecgs bushing. I did some research on it Last night and most say replace after a lift even if you don’t have to

This guy explained it the best
