I haven't read of any differences. From a manufacturing standpoint it wouldn't make sense to have a different suspension setup for 2wd vs 4wd trucks. Just like the TRD OR/Sport/SR5 is the same part numbers no matter the cab or bed configuration. One way to verify is to go to a Toyota parts website and checkout the part numbers, I doubt there is a different PN.

Looking at buying a complete suspension off a 2020 DCLB to put on my 2010 TRD OR DCSB.

Folks selling the set was told by the dealership that "it was not compatible because of upgrades in the last 9 years" and would not work on their 2011. Does any one have further info on why it would not work?

The dealer will always say "it won't fit" if the part numbers are different and don't show as interchangeable. You should trust the multitude of people here who have FIRST HAND experience showing that the suspension DOES work rather than trusting some random person who spoke to some random dealership employee who has no first hand experience and is only looking at part numbers on their computer screen.

Thanks, reading the various threads I was wondering WHY when it seemed, things should just bolt right up. Just wanted to see if there were any issues before I started dropping cash.

Install the 2020 suspension on your 2010 then roll up to the dealership and show them just how damn good it made your truck look. Then after they ask if you're interested in trading it in or selling them the truck, give a little grin, turn and walk away.

I installed a "Third Gen" set of front coil overs and rear shocks on my 2009. It took longer getting the rusted bolts off the old suspension than to mount the 3rd Gen set. After you replace get a realignment. The ride has been great so far.

Hey Folks Question about Rear Shocks:

Finally getting around to doing the rears, on my 2012 SR5 2.7. I put on 2018 TRD leaf springs which added a leaf as well as the Off Road shocks.

Before I install the final rear shock, I am trying to find out if there is any difference between the Right side rear shock and the left, or if there is a front/rear orientation to the lower position?

The part numbers on the two 3rd gen take off's are the same. There is a marker dot on one side of the lower bushing housing and a D or somthing like that on the other side. One (dot or letter) will face towards front of truck and one towards the rear. Not sure if any of this matters R/L F/R--- etc. It all looks the same to me.

Also .... I cannot use torque wrench when having to hold the top bolt threads from spinning. How important is 15 lbs? I did it until I couldn't hold the piston from spinning with my hands, then a bit tighter with cresent wrench while vice's on top.

    How it went:
For folks in Rust belt who are considering doing this, hardest part for me was getting top nut off rear shocks (had to cut it off with cutting wheel) and then gettin the leaf spring front bolt off. Needed to go at it with an electric impact driver for a while. breaker bar with 3 ft ext couldn't make it budge. Had sprayed it with liquid wrench the week leading up to the removal.

    Everything else went pretty smoothly.
Considering doing the front's but so busy and To Do list endless, so may just to alignment/suspension shop and have them do it when they Fulid Film it.

So got myself a complete 2020 TRD OR setup; front, rear and leafs. Big thanks to the sellers, got them for free. Going to install them soon as I get the chance.

I plan on adding a Toytec 1.5” progressive or single AAL and will keep the overload leaf.

And adding 1/4” plate for driver side.

Since winter is kicking in I will be carrying about 250 lbs in the bed most of the time, and hoping the springs will settle some.

Will there be any problems with going in this direction? Since there is a possibility of going to 2” of lift in the rear, will I need shock extenders to use OEM rear shocks?

Any tips or other advice doing install or buying to have shop do it will be greatly appreciated.

I suggest going with 1/2 spacers in the front on both sides. (I have a single AAL in the rear). Pretty close to factory rake.

I had 15 bags of mulch it still had a slight rake. When your empty you will be very nose down without the spacers.

A buddy has 3/4 inch spacers up from with Progressive AAL out back and I like the way his looks.

I did the same swap leafs and all. Wheelers progressive AAL and 1/4 top plate spacers up front both sides. It is prefect for me.

Your truck was the one I pulled from this thread as my "ideal" lift. I did the front the same and kept the 1" block in the rear that came with the truck. Not a high priority but I plan to change to an AAL when I find a good deal on one. The one hiccup now is that I've added some skid plates and sliders so I lost a bit of lift that I may want to get back.

Can anyone tell me if the 3rd generation off-road leaf springs are different than the 2nd generation leaf springs on a 2015 SR5? I checked the TSB and this truck seems to have the latest leafs.

    Thanks

I don't have personal experience but some have noted a slight amount of lift, less vibration from axle wrap and better ride. But that also could be due to just going from worn out/weakened leaf springs to new or very low mileage ones. If I remember right the leaf springs are the same part number on all models of the 3rd gen since they didn't make a lower economy style 2wd like they did on the 2nd gen, like the parts truck or fleet vehicles you see running around sometimes.

See my post previous, with pics. The ones I had were very marginally thicker per leaf, with a thinner overload, plus an angled shim, unlike my 2nd gen tsb leafs installed in 2018.

Think its a couple pages back.

Thanks! Trying to decide between buying 3rd gen OR take-off shocks/leafs or the expense of 5100 with new AAL or leaf pack. Would like to improve ride, maintain some rake w/canopy(which is on nearly full time), and have the added support under occasional load.

I was just in a similar situation but came across a local set of 2020 TRD OR front and rears for $80 with only 9200 miles. Haven’t installed yet, but will be soon. I’m a 100% pavement pounder and am thinking about slapping a 1” spacer up front and a block in the rear for a small little boost in height....

I've been debating the same. I already have new take off 2020 TRD OR suspension front and rear w a 1/4" spacer (for both sides) and 1/2" rear block from wheelers but I haven't completely ruled out 5100's with OEM springs using the 2nd or 3rd setting for a mild lift. Decisions decisions...

Some food for thought.... The 1" spacer (2" of lift) might be getting close near new UCA's and they aren't cheap. I used a 1/2" spacer and I had trouble getting the caster needed to get it aligned.

I can't speak directly for the '15, but the 3rd gen leafs were slightly beefier than the rear leafs from my '06.
