Stock tires in those photos, that’s where I realized I could use the higher clearance.

    *Winter Performance Question*

What’s everyone’s experience with these E rated tires in areas that get snow on the roads? Please include tire model, pressure you run them at and overall thoughts/experience

The Discoverer ST MAXX are snow rated and from everything I've read in this thread has stated they are exceptional in the snow. I'm planning on these for my Pro.

Thanks for the info. My buddy bought a set used a year ago and said they are junk in the snow on his F150. He’s running the 35x12.5x20 E rated ones

But wanted others opinion because he’s not the safest driver at times

35x12.5x20 of any tire is going to drive a heck of a lot different than a 255/85-16. I'd suggest only taking input from folks who have this actual tire size

So the Cooper S/T MAXX 255 85 R16 tires are running OUTSTANDINGLY! They work great and on highway they have no noticeable difference from stock. There "could" be a difference in acceleration but with my diamondback HD, rack, full steel skids.....I don't notice ANY difference. I do notice a MAYBE 1 mpg difference in fuel economy but I have been ONLY wheeling it since the replacement. Still driving Highway to Denver and back zero impact on fuel economy.

I took the tires out from the past two random "snow" issues we had and to be honest, no issues. I always put it in 4wd to get out of our crappy hill stuff but nothing different than stock whatsoever.

    Just my opinion.....comments?

BTW I run them at 32 PSI front and 34 PSI in the rear if that helps......

I’m curious if E rated tires on our trucks don’t produce the same contact patch as a 3/4 or 1 ton on E rated tires? Or is it as simple as adjust tire pressure on a Tacoma to get a good contact patch?

    It's all about tire pressure

Contact patch is dictated by vehicle weight and tire air pressure.

Just reference the tire manufacturer's published load and inflation tables. This will give you the tire manufacturer recommended air pressure for you set up.

Found me a new thread to follow.

Currently running Falken 32s, they're about halfway through their life. Interested in this skinny setup. Looks wwaaayyyy better than I thought it would.

The Falken MT's are the cheapest option of this size, however the issues of chunking I've seen make me worried.
