2009 Toyota Tacoma Electric Tail Gate Lock

Hello everyone!
I have finally made up my mind that I am going to get a electric Tail gate Lock for my 2009 Toyota Tacoma Dbl Cab, Short bed, TRD Package with back up camera.

Now here is where I need everyone's help.

I am looking at two manufactures:
The first manufactur is DynoLock which makes one specifically for the 2009 Toyota Tacoma with back up camera.
The Second Manufacturer is Pop and Lock but I don't see one specifically designed for the 2009 with back up camera but there is a model PL8520 for 2005 and up.

1st Question: Has anyone installed one of these units on a 2009 Toyota Tacoma with Back up Camera?

2nd Question: Does any one have experience with one of these devices or even better with both of these devices and knows which one is better?

3rd Question: Which one would you choose, would you by the DynoLock, try the PL8520 Pop and Lock or wait for the new electric Pop and Lock.

I have DynoLock install on my 09Tacoma...
It take about 1.5 hours for the installation. Do a search, I reply to a post with some photos after the installation.
feel free to ask me for everything.
aslo I believe DynoLock is the only company have it.

 

Pop and lock doesn't have anything that fits the '09s yet.

What do you think of the construction of the DynoLock unit. Does it look like something that will last for a long time. The reason why I ask is what happens if the unit stops working. I know this could be a long shot but hey as we all know things happen. My fear is that it stops working and with my Access LE tonneau cover I will have no way of getting into my truck bed.

Also I heard people mention that they asked the mfg for a heavy duty actuator. Did you do this?

 

I believe it can last for a while.
it seems fine for me. Everyone have different view, for me it will look good for a long while.

Sure I would like to see the installation instructions. If you could post them it would be great.

I am just being a little causious about Dynolock since I have not heard too much about this comany. Pop and Lock I have heard of alot. My other concern is when I look at the photo's it seems like the actuator is only bolted on by one bolt and I am concerned that over time that this coud turn or twist. When I look at the pop and lock versions for previous models it looks like it is more secure then the Dynolock but I could be completely wrong.

You are right. killerken.
it only use one bolt with a spacer that come with the package. but you know, it did what you want it to be.

Just received my Dynolock

Hope to install it this weekend.

 

Good luck, By the way, it is not that hard to install, first find the rubber thing under your driver side,so start from there to route the wire to the tailgate, after route the wire, start go back to tie wrap it up...with other wire. and fellow the instruction.

pop & lock said today (11-13-08) that their tailgate lock for the 09 taco will be ready in 4-6 weeks for purchase.

 

Does the Dynolock have a separate keyfob or does it work on the Toyota keyfob button?

 

it uses your Toyota keyfob, it is wired into your system as another door

Now I don't know which one to get.
The pop & lock or the Dynolock.
The "actuator is only bolted on by one bolt and I am concerned that over time that this coud turn or twist" kind of scares me a bit.
The Dynolock will be locking and unlocking often in using the Toyota keyfob button.

 

No problem, I am a little worries about that as well. When I get home, I am going to open it backup and see if I can either stick a block of something up there, or try and add another place to mount it. I went with the Dynolock because I didn't want an extra key, but I am in and out of my vehicle often, and because I don't have a Tonneau yet, I am not using the tailgate much. I am going to check out that Pop-N-Lock when it comes out, and see what I want to do from there.

 

Yeah,I'll probably wait till the Pop N Lock comes out.
One less electrical thing to worry about.
