I was just thinking the same thing. I might go ahead with it anyways and just paint the chrome if it looks bad.

Dont like satoshi's on first gens. grillcrafts look pretty good tho.

Satoshis work for second gens because they're more square and boxy, so the flat piece of mesh works for em. First gens are more curved, so a flat piece looks odd, IMO.

guys there's an easier process, they use epoxy instead of bondo .......check it out Satoshi Grill

He used grillcraft mesh as posed to custom car grill but it looks awesome. idk if I'd spend that much on mesh.

Custom Car Grill Mesh $39.99 (don't see why this wouldn't work for 1st gen)

235x75x15 Kuhmos. SnugTop Tonneau. Blacked out some interior parts. Pioneer head unit. Ammo can mod, deck plate mod and sandbox mod from not putting my deck plate back in.
So I took my grill off on Sunday to see what I was working with come mod time and I have some questions for the 01-04 set.
As you can see, the 1st gen 01 grill is not free standing and the piece that connects to the body and holds the grill in place is part of the plastic that needs to be cut out. It seems that if I cut the plastic out from behind it it will weaken the connecting portion. Any one encountered this before and if so, what did you do to remedy this?

I cut mine out... I suppose it is weaker on that one that is attached at the vertical bar. I left enough for the support to hang on but I filed it back quite a bit so it wouldn't be visible.

pyfaz, i really like your grille and i have the exact same truck as you. i was wondering if you cut the plastic out of the grille or just removed it to attach the mesh and what kind of mesh did you use? thanks
