Thank you... light in the tunnel of tunes! So if I just get a tune from someone, I can apply it to my vehicle and not “spend any credits”. I don’t even know how to edit it so for the moment I don’t need to unlock anything. So far so good?

but if next week I want to change any part of this tune, And save it as my own tune and use it, I need to spend credits?

this systems seems awkward. It’s like buying Microsoft word for my computer but every time I save a document I have to buy credits?

Ok with VF tune you can create tunes. One package.
In addition you can buy VF tune packs.
The VF TUNE PACKS are created by Matt and are available for specific ECU Numbers.
You get one ecu tune pack with tune pack purchase unlimited flavors of that ECU ID.
You can buy more credits for another ECU ID.
    I hope this helps.

You are correct. I would recommend verifying your ECU is up to date before unlocking your ECU as well. Also, in my signature I have links to common edits as well as another link for user contributed tunes.

I like having the ability to edit, as I can fine tune little things that may or may not be available. For instance, @Mooseditty17 has an awesome tune that was ported over to 04B81, but for regular gas. I was able to recreate it for premium.

You only use the credits to unlock the ECU ID. Once you’ve unlocked it, you can open any files with that ECU ID or create as many as you want. If you want to open another ECU ID, you need additional credits.

    No,
You use credits for a ecu ID. Then unlimited usage of tunes for that ECU ID.
Only if you get a new truck, tune a friends truck, or update your ECU do you need more credits.

We've all been there. Makes a lot more sense once you actually start using it more and more, as with anything else.

Yeah, I guess the first step is buying a PC. I guess having all Mac stuff is a pitfall.

Credits only apply to your ECU ID. Example: I have a 2016 Tacoma and my ECU ID is 04B04. Once you purchase the vftune and cable you hookup to the OBDII port to get your ECU ID. Maybe this pdf will help clear up some questions.

It would be so easy for OVTune to put a readme.txt in the folder with all the tunes, describing exactly this.
