Starting a thread to specifically share tips / tunes for the AT Tacoma’s out there.

Some stuff is getting lost in the main thread and it might be a good idea to keep it simple here.

Do you think it would be worthwhile to recommend some sort of a naming scheme for the files to help keep things even clearer? Obviously, people don't have to use it, but it might be helpful.

    Something like: ECU_fueltype_tiresize_gears_thx/non-thx_gearlock_additionaldetails.vft

Maybe that's overkill, but I could see this thread quickly becoming as confusing as some of the others.

100% advocate this. The additional details part can be the fun tune name people have been using but I think a community standard would be kickass. If there's interest, I could draft up a "spec" of sorts for what the naming standard(s) should be.

Subd. I was sad last night when I found out OVtune became a "do it yourself" tune. Yes, the possibilities are endless but I've never tuned anything so hopefully something good like the 87 performance gets shared. I was looking forward to saving up enough to get it.

Don't worry, there are some wonderful vF Tuner users out there who are sharing some great tunes. Obviously, there's a little more risk when it's coming from a user instead of from OVtune, but I've felt good about the couple that I've tried from other users so far.

Shoot. Not with vF. My truck is driving so much better.

You can still purchase the canned tunes by purchasing the tune packs from OVTune. You do not need to tune anything yourself.

Yeah, I know what I recommended is pretty clunky, but my thought was that the file name travels with the file itself as it gets shared among different users. A description of the file will probably get lost as the file gets passed around.

Either way, I'm just thankful for all of the collaboration happening. I've been stoked on some of the user created tunes that I've tried so far (thanks for spearheading a lot of those @Mooseditty17). I like them way better than the original OVTune 2.0 that they're based off of.

I was just about to post this when @Mooseditty17 deleted that:
On the initial learning side, I never drive it hard. Always normal stuff for the first 20mi.

My question is if there was actual knock or just worrying about it? I have been running 2.0 Prem since it dropped for us on both 87 and 92.

On 87, all that I really know is the TSB tune knocked pretty badly only on the hottest days, OVT 1.05 87 tunes knocked quite a bit less, and I have never heard anything on 2.0 OL. It was always the high gear, low RPM, and moderate load.

Taking advantage of the OL, I am running 92 in the summer and 87 in the winter.

I'm turned off by the large VF tuning thread. There's way too much to read through. Then again, maybe I'm just not that interested. If it were simpler, I'd bite though.
