That’s a great deal on an awesome tonneau!

I debated in my head for awhile about a hard trifold and soft but ultimately went with the soft roll-up for more available bed space. I really like the Bakflip and how it folds up, but didn't want to spend that much either. They sure are nice though.

Im right there with you on the Bakflip, its my first choice but the price is up there. I currently have a roll up that gives me full bed space but i know if we expect any snow, i will have to keep it rolled up as i dont see it holding the weight of a good snow.

Using the factory cover here. a must have for me especially where i live.
I will rarely have anything big enough in and out constantly where the cover is a problem. If there are times where the cover needs to be taken off to fit something larger, then it is easy as well.

Keeps things from being stolen. i dont have a garage and i park my truck in my apartment garage.
I dont have to worry if my stuff in the back will be safe. i always have things like fuel jugs living in the back so it keeps them safe.
Keeps prying eyes away. out of sight of mind
keeps cargo in the back dry when it pours
and i like to think it helps somewhat with aero (who knows)

i have had the Bakflip G2 and the Pop & Lock Power lock gives me a piece of mind if im out and about i can feel safer keeping stuff in the bed. in the summer its usually golf clubs or my ball gear. winter time will have snowboards in there so can enjoy Apres without worry

with whatever tonneau you choose looking into a locking tailgate, mine is tied to my doorlocks. didnt really want the manual key option, just another key to add to my janitor ring set

Was this one plug n play with a T-Harness to tie into the door lock harness or did you have to splice?

Understandable, there was one thread on here with a link to a plug n play version. If it works, thats all that matters.

I might end up in buying the replacement locking tailgate handle in the future. Thanks!

I looked at the locking handle with the key and most reviews on here states that it fades really bad and becomes brittle. I myself will go for the added actuator option like posted above. It will lock the tailgate with the doors and you dont have to change the handle out.

Here is the thread and some option

Get some butyl putty and apply it generously in the corners where the bed rails meet the back of the cab. That area is prone to leaks.

no problem. i like the KTJO version but it says some drilling is required. The T-Harness look nice so you dont have to tap any wires but the Pace Edwards may be a good option plus you can get discounts from Auto Anything

I was just looking at the Pace Edwards powergate lock and it looks more secure and more convenient than the handle lock. I believe I'll be getting one of those soon.

yep, if you read the beginning of that thread i posted. most people say the keyed lock from Pop n Lock became difficult to open after a couple of years and faded really bad.

first Tacoma I had I never covered the bed, and didn't understand why any real man would. Second Tacoma (current) came with the least convenient, most weather resistant and secure tonneau you can find, and I was planning to sell it immediately. I f*cking love it. I'm in the back ALL the time, but utilize the security and and weather proof nature of it all the time. Mine is kinda a pain in the ass to remove (2 people/5 minutes) but doable, and I have swapped it off a few times but it keeps going back. I'll probably end up with a folding cover at some point.

But to the general point of the post, and much to my surprise: tonneau cover? = YES.

I also have a Supertop (cloth camper top) for special needs, but it doesn't stay....

I maybe old school. I have a snugtop color matching hard top. Yes , it takes two to take on and off but I only need to do that once or twice a year. Its very secure and I keep a lot of goodies in there.

I have an Undercover similar to that one that I plan on selling soon. Great at protection and keeping water out, I just don't like the style and how it limits what you can load up in the bed.
