    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
I've gone back and forth on it. I carry a bunch of stuff back there, and often have my German Shepherd with us too. Looking to go with something really durable, and something I can wipe down with a damp rag if needed. Was also going to do the platform with the bedliner too.

    20200809_210145.jpg

Totally get what you're saying, but I figure if I bed line it, and don't like it, I can always carpet over the bedliner.

I've got a bunch of rolls of bituthene... planning on putting 2 or 3 layers of it on the bottom of the box.

Did a REALLY involved project today, changed a balljoint... with the cheapest, most offshore cut-rate, bottom dollar POS I could dredge up on a moments notice. $17 at the NAPA haha. Needed to change for safety and didn't wanna go big bucks just to pull it out in a month for long travel tubular upper arms.

    Always fun

At least it is super easy with a standing press, 5 min job if the spindle is pulled and you own some big sockets or some tube sections

finished up the main body of my drawer system today. tomorrow I'll bedline the top, install this part in the truck, and then get started on hatches for the cubbies that will be created by the wheel wells.

yeah the bed liner will hold more dust than anything. That stuff will go on real thick. But worth a shot.

Those turned out great! What kind of coating/color did you go with and what did it run you?

Like Speedy said, JetHot. I knew they would look nice but they really did do a marvelous job. That’s the satin silver coating and it put me back $400. Which I find completely reasonable. So I’ve got about $700 wrapped up in the headers now.

Finally pulled the trigger on a new Magnaflow cat and Denso sensors. Been fighting a persistent CEL for a couple of years. Intervals between resetting getting closer together, until now it only lasted through the reset cycle. Too much hassle at annual inspection time. :spending:

We had a rare, nice day in the 60s so I just wanted to take advantage.
(Apologies if you can't see the Dropbox-linked photos)

I started the bed build, which I was going to put off until spring but after a recent eight day trip I realized I’d like to have it done sooner if possible. For v1 I’m doing the base the same way that I did my old van, only thinner, 1/2" insulation board and 1/2" birch. I’ll either poly the birch or go Goose Gear style and Line-X it. I went 72” long, which will give room for the Rago stiffeners that are on the way. Foam board is joined down the center and the wood seam is horizontal. Even just sitting in there loosely its level, solid and zero bends. Lotsa sanding and finish work to do as well as deciding on attachment. And need to decide how I’m going to finish the back edge. I did 90º wood trim last time and it worked well and acted as a little lip to catch things.

I had enough time today to get the base pattern done and the foam and wood cut as well as the back “wall.” Thank goodness for windoors or I would have had to take the shell off.
Right now it’s all just “step one,” but at least now I’m in the position to begin measuring and mocking up the small side cabinets. I’m using 80/20 framing for those and there will also be lengths of it on top and bottom of the back wall.

After that I quickly knocked up a lower plate for the cab. I’d cut the wood over a year ago but hadn’t bothered finishing it, so I upholstered that and removed the fold-down tray in the rear so I could see how it’d fit. Just deciding on how I want to attach it to the upper piece. Might just use aluminum angle on that edge to join them and re-use the tray bolts on the passenger side to hold it. If I ever take it all apart I'd probably have it Line-X'd if I can color match, but this works great for now and I have it in there a long time.

    This part is never fun...

    But it's serviceable:

Loosely just set it in there to see it'll fit...

If you ran it without fluid for a long time the pumps probably toast either way.

    Shit good to know.

Haven't been able to use the truck much lately, but I used it to pull down a tree in the back yard, and made a holder for my MORRflate.
