Great write-up on your install! Glad it went well for you and your B I L

Just to compliment, I think that color has been the best I’ve seen with this kit!

    Cool, nice work!

Anyone have a link to torque specs for all the bolts involved?

@dabbinuguay yeah I been writing them down on a box as I go through videos, but seems each one has some slightly different numbers. After looking at @Devir7 's link, looks like the major difference is whether the vehicle is 2WD or 4WD.

For example, the lower arm camber bolt goes from 100 lb to 155 lb on a 2WD to 4WD.

I was gonna write out all the numbers, but seems the safest bet is to follow the tech sheets.

I can add in the 6X lugs are 83 lb :D

Also, not mentioned in those sheets is WHEN to tighten them to spec. It's my understanding that all but the spindle/ball joint for the UCA (castle nut) and top three shock nuts get tightened after the truck has been lowered and bounce tested. And on the rear, only the top rear + front leaf shackle get tightened before. All else, torqued to spec after lowered and bounced.

That’s true. The link I sent is also for 2nd Gen but “from treads I’ve read” the suspension and torques are the same 6 lug to 6 lug.
I know there is a 3rd gen link somewhere but I couldn’t find it.

I also watch the Ironman install video a lot and did what he said about when to torque. I also replaced the needle bearing with an ECGS bushing. Also I didn’t have the UCA. The only things I disconnected was the sway bar and lower knuckle bolts. Even with the ECGS I did not take the hub nut off for the cv... that was fun.

Not trying to derail, but I'm stuck trying to get this CV axle off for the ECGS swap. I got the axle straight, tried rotating, tried a cable yank and been beating a nice memorable groove into those indentions with a pry bar. Nada

Thanks guys, should I just be planning on doing the ECGS bushing while I'm in there too? I keep hearing it's a hit or miss thing, but I know how my luck goes...

I mean, after seeing this video from ECGS's page...

It seemed pretty cut and dry for me. Lift the truck and the angle of the axle on that bearing changes dramatically.

Whether people had issues with the stock needle bearing post-lift or not, time will tell, but it is worth pointing out that it got a mention in Toyota's Safety Bulletin :notsure: Also, didn't opt for the pricey one-time-use tool either as I'm going to attempt to use a free tool from Autozone (pilot bearing puller).

If only I could find videos on youtube of people NOT having great luck with it. I'd watch a person suffer for an hour as I take breaks from my own suffering

mine took a while. I had a pry bar and used a mallet. I have to change from a rubber mallet to a metal hammer but one I used the heavier one it came out quicker. Screwed with that thing about an hour trying to get it out and 20-3 min to get it in. Good luck!

Quite a few things at this point..
Not a bad idea if you want to do it, but I didn't and no issues roughly 2k miles in with a good chunk of that offroading

I’ve the cv axle out finally and some bogus jb welded attempt at making an ECGS puller. Still not convinced I need to buy a $40 nut and bolt tool. Am I too far in just to throw the cv back in?? :D

    Needle bearings looked great..

If you’re that close might as well finish, but without the right tool might be more of a pain to finish that up.

@Devir7 I had to. And then while checking out, I was staring at the order form where it asks for any comments... lower price? be charitable and include with bushing? sell me the three pieces at cost and I’ll put the bolt through the hole?!

Uff, hard to stomach that invoice, but I guess I’m far from the first to purchase and have that feeling.

I think you’re right but now you can loan it out or sell when done too. Hope it goes well and watch extra vids with that.
I ended up adding some gear oil to the diff about a week or two after. I think I added 1/3-1/2 qt.... I’ll have to double check how much. I just used off the shelf stuff that was close to the same weight. The Toyota weight stuff if somewhat specialty.
