Anyone in Atlanta have an SR model 3rd gen, and then is there someone with a second gen that I could come get some interior console measurements from?

I just need to do some tracing for something I am getting lasered up so I can offer to these models. If you would be cool with me swinging by and doing that, please send me a PM!

Anyone here with first hand experience with the Fumoto or Femco oil drain plug replacements?

Yes I have searched and read extensively. Just curious if others here have experience. No I am not concerned that the Fumoto sticks out a bit further than the Femco, but the latter being a bit more low profile does sound good for the wife's car.

Did the Fumoto on the Taco. Been about 5k, no issues.

The only way I would consider one of these if I where running skid plates. There was a member on here a month or so ago had a tree limb hit his and it broke off....draining all the oil....by the time he figured out what happened it was too late. Just my .02

So your first hand experience is that you have not and will not use the product...got it, thanks for that.

Looking for first hand experience with the product in question, not so much confirmation of user failure scenarios.

Have used these on the past 5 vehicles we have owned. Never had a single issue or concern. The most recent purchase was for the Tacoma and noticed it seems to drain faster than previous versions. The convince of being able to open the valve and have it pour with finesse into the capture container has made me a lifetime customer.

I'm sure the product works as designed as tons of great comments on here....but again just passing this along for information purposes. I also like to look at scenarios of possible failure with a product that I'm considering installing on my truck but that's just me. There's another guy on this same thread below that said his came loose as well. (I'm sure it's a one in a million though)

I’ve been running one on my Tacoma for the last ~40k miles or so. It’s my DD and my daily adventurer and I haven’t had a single problem out of it. I do keep the factory drain plug in the glovebox in case something did happen.

I would not run it on a Tacoma without skid plates since the plug comes straight down(at least on the 2nd gens).

Oil changes are a breeze. Tool less, mess less, it’s fantastic. Have a tube connected to the drain plug, and I’ve routed a tube from the oil filter catch housing to the bottom of the truck. Both tubes get put in a old container then I crack open the Fumoto and oil filter and let them drain!

I had one on my Honda Element, and put one on the Taco. There's probably 60k or more between the two of them. My wife's 40k mile Honda Fit has had one since we bought it around 12k.

Anyways, once you get one, you won't go back - it's easy to see why some fleet vehicles use them. It's way easier to just stick a tube on it and open it, directing the oil straight into the pan, with no mess and no effort. I never was able to get the plastic retainer clip to stay on, so I just run without it.

...Now if only the Taco's oil filter was less of a pain in the ass... If I got one of the remote cartridge adapters, I'd be able to do an oil change without picking up a wrench.

As dumb as it sounds, that was a majorly appealing feature in selecting the Tacoma when I purchased it. One of those things I wish they hadn't changed.

So that lends the question, where is the best place to get a Fumoto? They did a BF friday sale, but someone commented almost immediately that the Amazon price was still better.

Got mine from Amazon. I still need to buy tube. Figure I'll go ahead and change oil when I put the skids on.

That's a weird criteria to select a vehicle! I can think of a lot more important things than that. ;)

Amazon is definitely the best - here's the one I use on my 3rd gen: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D9FCRWM/

When I'm changing the oil in my truck and then move to my wife's 4runner I immediately am annoyed at the amount of stuff to remove just to get to the filter.

I didn't say it was "the" reason. Just something that was majorly appealing.

    So much this.
