    Nope

Go forced induction if you really want more power, but even then you'll starve for more...even a forced V6.

Change up your gearing to "feel" like you got more power.

Even with boost fuel and ignition adjustments are impossible with the stock ecu without piggybacks which are really only a stop gap solution... But its all we have short of a standalone ecu

Just roll the windows down and stick your head out. The wind in your face makes it feel faster.

40-50 on my dirt bike feels F-ing fast.

Toyota ECU is locked and not tunable unfortunately.

People have had luck with standalone and/or piggyback ECUs with their forced induction setups but there is a lot of work with those setups.

Alright. Thanks for making it clear y’all.

Will be looking into turbos/super chargers now. I know that’s an easy and legit way

Yep. After many years of no car payments with this very reliable truck, I’m thinking it’s not a bad idea to “invest” a little on this one. For scientific purposes of course :D

Is it an auto? dbl cab should be. Those tend to suck the life out of the 2.7.

Or so I hear. Considered a manual swap? :D

While we're at it - what axle gear ratio do you have?

Honestly an engine swap will be your best dollar per horsepower opportunity. These toyota engines are built with a reliability first mindset and tuning them is more of a gamble and dedicated one off money game than a straightforward solution

yeah so I’ve heard! Not sure if it’s as big of a deal as I’ve read about.

I’ve certainly thought about a manual trans swap, but oh man, an auto trans helps make life better here in Houston, where traffic is pretty bad.

And not sure about the gear ratio. Tires are 265/75/16, so I doubt it matters much

Engine swap is not as easy as it sounds though. Also have to accommodate transmission and exhaust, a month other electronics. If I won the lotto, I’d definitely do it though $$

Bah. I grew up in houston driving a volvo with a 4 speed manual + OD. Katy Freeway was great for first gear idling

It would be worth decoding your gear ratio. If you're down in the 3-somethings, it would be especially sluggish.

My 97 3rz 4 runner with an auto, 3.40 gears, and 32" tires is glacial but totally adequate... I still love it though
