I should have looked at the fob harder. I have received it and it's a chinese knock-off. Kinda pisses me off that they put oem on the add.

I lost one of mine and had it replaced (cloned) by a local shop for $200. I think Toyota wanted twice that amount for the new key.

Return that POS knock-off. I hate when they do that, eBay seems to be the worst for this kinda shit. I’ve returned stuff from eBay that were misrepresented as ‘OEM’ parts twice now for full refunds (It’s also the reason why I take screenshots of the ad/info page before I order anything now)

I’ve never tried with a Toyota but you can prob buy a cheap, OEM fob from a wrecking yard and then go get it reprogrammed for your truck. Just do some research regarding cross-referencing the part number. I’m sure Toyota/Lexus use the same fob part numbers across a few vehicles so it prob doesn’t have to be from a Tacoma.....

I found some a unlocked used one on ebay for about 100. Its just going to be my spare so that will probably work. Sending the chinese garbage back for sure.

I am still surprised they can’t make an app to find those things
If truck can see it my phone should be able to also.

These are very handy, especially when replacements are hundreds of dollars,,, let alone keeping you from getting stuck. You can also use the better version of the tile to find your phone,,, if you have your key. I've never had a huge issue losing keys and things, but for a few bucks, it's worth it.

Hey, see if you have a "Car Keys Express" near you. They program remotes and make keys for the dealers. It cost me $235.19 for programed fob and two keys or what they call a key now and only took 15 min. Auto start and tail gate lock and unlock fine. My truck only came with one remote. When i called Toy. they said around $245 (maybe higher-I think) for the fob, $ 75 to program and then I had to make an appointment to get it done.

Thats not bad if it's a OEM Toyota fob. A local locksmith made me a replacement dumb key for my old subaru and he said he would program a smart fob and make me a key (if I have the cut code or a key to duplicate) for $45. One could buy a generic/replica fob for ~$50 online.
