This may be a better question for woodworker thread but gonna try both spots:
I have a bedroom set that has these annoying plastic guides (Kenlin Rite-trak II) and many have broken. Any thoughts on what is better to replace it with?

We bought this set about 10 years ago and don’t want to replace it with plastic again.

Other than some random dents and dings from moving the bedroom set is in great shape and not needing/wanting to replace it for at least another 5 years when I retire and am done with all the military moves haha

Here's my next project: replacing the sump pump in my basement. I got almost 25 years out of the old one.

yea i ended up grabbing this kit, with some modifications:

    https://www.backstreet-surveillance...vue-prokit8-70d-8-camera-security-system.html

I only ordered 5 cameras instead of 8, and decided to get the cables from elsewhere, since it seems they're charging a little premium on them.

overall I got the setup for about $1300.

I haven't had a chance to install it yet, been too busy with the holidays.

was going to ask how you liked it and how the install was. Found some footprints in the snow the other night coming out of the woods behind my house up to the deck. Doesn't look like they came on the deck which is only two steps up but looks like they were trying to look inside the house hiding behind my grill. Don't know how long they were there are what night it was. I was already in the market for an alarm. Think I'm going to step it up a bit.

I'm biased as I got my equipment as a housewarming gift but give Alarm Relay a call about a system before you go with someone else, I've known the family who started it and run it since I was a baby and they're good people. We have the DMP system with smoke detector, door/window sensors, and a few other things also, looking at our invoice I don't think we get a friends/family discount and it averages out to about $12/month.
I also have a referral code that get you and I both $50 if you decide to go with them.

I have a couple of Ring cameras on the front of my house currently, so I'm not in a huge rush to install it.

I don't think install will be too hard, just running the cable up through the wall into the attic, and then to the corners of the house. I can't speak to how the app is to use yet, obviously. I'm thinking about setting up the NVR, and then just hooking up one camera inside the house, and just testing it out before going all in on the install.

yea the picture quality is why I wanted this system. I have a Ring Doorbell, and a Stick Up cam in the front of my house that alerts me when someone is in my front yard. Its not perfect, but works well enough. I have a couple of Plug-In indoor cameras as well to watch my dogs inside the house. Between those two systems, I feel pretty well covered.

Tried a new (to me) wood glue/adhesive to use on the short returns for that decorative head casing I'll be building. Seems to work quite well.

Interesting. How instant is the bond? I'm a busy guy and I hate waiting for TiteBond Ultimate to dry.

I'm holding them together for about 15 seconds.

Figure a few seconds at this stage saves a brad nail (or two) and then filling/sanding the hole.

Hey guys I'm going through my laundry room and wanted to put down porcelain tiles, after pulling up the vinyl I discovered the dreaded small green asbestos tiles. My understanding is I can prime those and then put the fortified mortar right on top and then I'm gtg?

If you want to skip the filling step get a 23 gauge micro pin nailer. The holes are so small you can't even see them.

Another good tip when using CA glue is you can combine it with regular PVA glue like Titebond

I usually use Titebond 3 , smear that around the perimeter of 2 pieces I'm joining and use a few drops of the CA glue in the centre of the joint . You get the instant bond of the CA glue with the more robust adhesion of the Titebond .
