I think I’m gonna pack the diff drop kit with me, but will hold off on installing it. It sounds like the boot slide is a much smarter way to go, IF you are vibe-free and just looking to be proactive.

Disaster thread on a diff drop. Haven’t read through the 15 pages, but I’ve heard enough.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you all as well!

Also, here’s my alignment specs. Went in with the ironman sheet and all figures were put inside their recommendations. Haven’t driven more than 50 miles but it feels solid so far.

just sharing this is where I found the boot slide mod. There are two different mods but this is the one I’m gonna do (just need to order the clamps) https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/boot-slide-mod-my-experience.492489/

@mandog I'm a day late seeing your alignment sheet! I knew there were specs from IronMan, however somewhere along the 1,000 mile road trip and installation, I lost them and couldn't find em in this thread. (I know its here somewhere!)
I thought it was more important to get it aligned before getting on the road again, so I ran it to 4WP who was awesome in accommodating me and getting it on the rack same day. They got everything "to spec" but the caster is lower than recommended by Ironman. And I didn't have the specs to ask them to adjust to.
    Here's how it landed:

    IMG_1454.jpg

It does drive a bit "tighter" and I still have not experienced any rubbing, so that's a bonus. Tested full lock forward and reverse on level ground, we'll see what off road/camber brings.

Also added the center bearing spacers this morning.
Washers provided were pretty small, so I threw some larger ones in. We'll see if I notice a change today.

    IMG_1453.jpg

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and safe holiday weekend!
    to 2021!

Another data point for the Constant loads - I was completely loaded up yesterday, didn’t get to a weigh station but with my shell filled to the brim I measured and only sagged 0.5” on the Constants with 2 leaves removed.

Oh there will be some mods all right
(usual disclaimer that I'm in a frontier and not a Tacoma) I also did some truck stuff today and the suspension did great. It's a mixture of dry and wet hardwood.

Putting it through the paces to start out 2021! Out with a couple buddies who are conveniently also Tacoma owners @DarkYota . Nothing like testing new tires and suspension at 32psi in 10" of powder

Suspension was great! Will still be pulling the front down some more and going back for another alignment with the Ironman specs to reference. Haven't had any rub or harsh feedback. Did run around today with the factory suspension in the bed just to add a little weight. Nothing earth shattering. Great afternoon and hopefully more to come tomorrow! Huge fan of IronMan, especially for the price point and if you can get it on sale and a free item (treds, air compressor), absolutely worth exploring!

That’s awesome! I’ve put at least 1,000 miles on the new suspension.

Thoughts so far: it’s a super stiff suspension overall. No cushion on speed bumps, but off-road it has been handling quite well at appropriate the speeds.

My mpg averages have been all over the place, but I think that’s entirely due to me approaching the continental divide and gaining about 1-2000 feet per day. I’m also @5900 lbs fully loaded.. how much of that is sprung weight, can’t say, but will try and take some new heigh measurements.

    Cheers!

    Looking fun!
I can say that after my additional 1”increase, I lost about 1-2mpg.

I've got a decent trip ahead of me tomorrow, been manually tracking mileage since new (haven't calculated, just tracking :anonymous:). Curious to see what's real vs computer generated. Now I'm more curious about lift/tires/wheels impact. Update to come next week!

@mandog @ShawZ i should have added, I got the adjustment within a few days of the fuel pump recall for 3rd gens and an ECM update for the transmission shift programming. So could be a combo of the 3...

Everyone here seems to be having lots of fun taking their rigs around and off road.. all I get so far is in and around town- mall crawlin (not at the actual mall)

My plan is to order 255/85/16 ST Maxx tires and SPC uppers next week.

Just installed my stage 2 foam cell lift! The stance is great and feels great! Howeverrrr... I ran into multiple issues with the install. The u-bolts provided are too short, a bolt stripped on top of the coilover, and the bolts for the brakeline support on the UCAs were not provided. Now, I get it, and the lift feels and looks amazing. But these little bits and pieces have definitely made me question the quality of this lift. I'll be getting in contact with Ironman and the reseller to try to get this resolved.

Again though, the lift looks and feels great! Hopefully I can get these these things resolved. Will keep you guys updated

Sounds like you had my luck going for you while doing the install. I’m sure they’ll hook you up with the right u bolts. I’m not sure about the stripped nut. Maybe they’ll send you a new top hat and cover it getting replaced but who knows on that one.

I want to say I almost stripped one out and could feel that it was not tightening right and backed off and used a different nut. Not that it helps you now.
Being cheap, I also bought the top hats off Amazon...

That sucks!! As an active follower on this thread, and new Ironman customer, I'm bummed to see the struggle. But as @Devir7 mentioned, unfortunately, I'm not shocked. (No pun intended!) That was my biggest fear of self installing!
Although, I will say, from the reports, their customer service has been solid as of late. It's tough to be a huge fan when the small details cause such a hassle. I'd imagine they are gaining in popularity and keeping up with demand can be challenging, but the devil is in the details, and that's what makes companies great!
Once you're comfortably installed and out playing, I think you'll be happy with the final result. My fingers are crossed that they make your experience right and minimize any down time! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Yup. I had same issue with the supplied U-bolts. They were too short for the constant load leaf pack. I emailed Ironman and they requested photos. I didn't have time for that so I picked up a set of longer Icon U-bolts from a local shop.

Haven't had any major concerns with the FCP kit after several months. Been all over the PNW and SW Utah and Colorado and hasn't let me down.

I had the same top hat nut issue, I used my factory bolts as they are far superior to the ones supplied by Ironman. No issues with u bolts but I ordered performance and I assume you went with constants.
