TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Why?

 

Mainly to get rid of the pulley mod. I’ve by no means had any problems with it. At some point I’ll have to replace the bearing. I figure just take it off to not worry about something else that may fail, switch to a 2.8 and not see much of a difference in the process.

 

The headers can hit the brackets when the engine torques over with worn out stock motor mounts. I’ve heard that solid mounts reduces the chance of this happening.
I have Dirt King UCA brackets and URD headers, but I also have an FJ.

CBI with the flat belly. Only one that I really did not want to add was the gas tank skid. Didn't want to add even more drivers side weight but function won in the end and I added that one too

 

I hear ya there. I recently acquired a gas tank skid as well. Picked it up in steal but now thinking i should have one with aluminum as its good but does not get as beat up as the front skids. the stock one so far has been just fine.

 

I'm wondering when some tacoma guys will start doing full on apc under body armour. Get the full v shape and everything for out on the trail and beat it into submission.

I did not see it anywhere so I created a post to get a sense of options. I added some of the ones I could think off offhand. I prob should move to a google sheet so it's searchable but a nice database of skids would help this conversation.

I'm starting to wonder if that's the route I should go as well. This heavy steel is costing me I'm sure.

 

Marlin crawler lca skid/brace count? I also have the turd gen trd pro skid plate. Mostly cause it looks nice and is aluminium and adds a but of front end rigidity. Not sure on weights in either of them.

 

I opted for weight savings over pure beef. The aluminum skids see some shit.. and they hold up well enough. Some galling occasionally.. but nothing major.

Just went on a 3 day trip over the weekend.. used em some more. Ended up doing 111 miles of off-road trails. Didn't touch asphalt for 3 days.
