Too much work. A compound snatch block is a nifty trick to keep in your sleeve though. I keep two single snatch blocks in the truck when I'm going solo. Just in case I need to go sideways or backwards.

The VW Jetta and the Ford Explorer were stuck and the Nissan "road racing thing" was fairly stuck. The other Ford and the VW dune buggy were not even stuck, probably could have pushed them out if we had one more person. I really struggled on the stuck Explorer I had to get directly behind it so the cable was straight.

Where you just hand cranking or were you using your truck to tug also?

Very bad idea, wire rope (often called incorrectly steel cable) should NEVER be shock loaded.

Sometimes you have to do things. I have broken countless chains but at least I would lay a tarp or blanket on the chain.

    Same.

Just this year I decided I've been banged up enough and I'm too old that 6+ hours of digging is not as much fun as it once was, and it never was that much fun haha!

Decided to start saving for a Warn and eneded up getting a great great deal on a used m8000 from another member here who was getting out of the game and starting a family.

I went with no winch. Avoids doing something stupid and getting stuck in the first place..

With the come along I was only using it. I got the Explorer off of it's frame and semi out before I hooked up with the strap to pull it to the "road."

That is another thing. Most people have now idea what the hell to do once you get them out of the sand. That Ford Explorer damn near ran me over after I got it to the clear. I need to quite getting involved with these "lets see the desert" folks. I try but just can't just leave them out there.

I’ve got maxtrax and a shovel. If that doesn’t get me out, I’ll have plenty of time to think about what I’ve done lol
