Where I see Toyota going cheap is with them honoring their warranty work.
I have a 14 Sienna that needed the front struts replaced because they were leaking. Toyota said it wasn't a leak they were just seeping which they said was normal while the vehicle was under warranty.
Guess what they said after the warranty expired? The seeping was now a leak and they need to replace the struts now at my expense. I countered and reminded them about how they kept putting this off but they wont replace them. The van now has 56000 miles. We also complained about the steering wheel being tight sometimes when turning the wheel and was advised that the steering coupler needed to be replaced at my expense. I found out that this has been a on going problem with Toyotas for some time now and they wont do a recall. I also have a 17 Tacoma but we will not being buying anymore Toyotas. That is all we have driven since 1989.

Hard top camper...many more to add+
Not sure if this will help...I lifted both front seats by one inch and feels a lot more comfortable..
1-inch homemade spacers and longer bolts (rear seat anchors)...and purchase Seat Jackers for the front anchor s...have you seen the limited Orange colors ones from SeatJackers? ...
Driving longer distance feels better and more relaxing...off course it could be a placebo effect?

living on a island...hard to drive really long distances...tip to tip approx 3 hours and full round trip..just 8 hours ( Big Island of Hawaii)
    Cushions..? Lumbar support pillows?

Having a bad back...not a good thing...Hopes she gets better!
    Aloha

How much are some of you under the hood that you need gas lift struts?

Maybe the hood too heavy for those tooth pick arms? This is the same forum that bitches about not having a grab handle on the driver side

From a practical standpoint...these things should have been noticed by you before you sighned the paperwork.

From a business ethics standpoint...toyota will provide the bare minimum that is required to get the buying public to purchase a vehicle. If the vehicle in question does not meet your standared, you have the ability to take your business else where.

From an owners point of view...i noticed all the things you mentioned and still bought it. :crapstorm:

Their vehicles are so reliable they like to give push back even during the short 3 year/36K period where there shouldn't be any problems. They also dont like providing rentals either. Guess you have to buy a Lexus if you want treated better.

If you think that's bad just try some of the BS you get from other companies. I hear nothing but horror stories about Tesla and its bullshit.

All the MT guys will do that "mod", since they like to do things "manually". They will also tell you that you are not a real man if you use hood struts.

Most all Japanese vehicles I've ever seen have a hood prop rod instead of struts
Driver side grab handles are lousy for visibility
They *added* the electric seat in the past couple of years, so that's the opposite of going cheap.

You could have bought something else... Because most of these things that you're mentioning have been Toyota traits for a long time and all were certainly easily seen before you bought your 2019.

I have recently dealt with this. :bananadead: I can at least say that it doesn't affect visibility in my seating position. Folks who sit back further say that it is about a 1/4in intrusion.

If yer bitching about a Taco (Especially HERE) not having a this-or-that minor thing, or not quite too your liking ... And even more ... Promoting a .. Ugh ... Furd Ragass as being somehow 'better' ..'
WTF, really?? The answer is simple. DON'T BUY ONE then.
I have a 2020 and there is absolutely not one thing I don't LOVE about this truck. It's gone beyond all my expectations X10.

Toyota owners, who are also complainers, really seem to inhabit two camps:

1- Complainer Type A “The Curmudgeon”: people who previously owned the cheap-ass 80’s and 90’s trucks who miss the bare-bones reliability, even if it meant no features. They complain about how bloated and over complicated Tacos have become, and miss the rugged simplicity of old Toyotas.

2- Complainer Type B “The Bro Princess”: people who equate hood-struts, cubbies, electric seats, LED lighting, and other nonsense with a quality vehicle.

Regarding Steel vs Plastic bumper. When you're dragging bumper and it gets caught on a rock, would you prefer the bumper to flex/crack or get twisted and pushed up into your tailgate/bed side.

I’m waiting for someone to notice how rough and uncomfortable the steering wheel is. It may irritate those with soft hands. The drivers seat is equally rough and can chap the ass.
