After 254k miles, every bushing on the clutch pedal was missing. Replaced everything with bronze, and no more squeaks. Thanks for this idea!

quite the old thread here - been having this issue for quite some time ... I followed out that whole thread - think I might just go springless route.

I have all the parts to do the job. Including a new pedal. I also saw a guy over at t4r that rigged one up with nylon. His pedal was pretty trashed and he rigged that with epoxy. Sounds a bit janky to me but i most definitely want a better option. I would hate to take out the clutch pedal every year or whatever.

    What a crappy design flaw...

My pedal assembly had been metal to metal for a while so I actually had weld build up the two holes and the arm that holds the center bushing. Re drill and blend

No. I don't remember the part #, but I think I used the OEM brake spring listed in the thread I linked. Have had mine on for over a year. No issues...

This linear spring swap and the slip joint mod in the steering are the easiest and most beneficial "mods" that I've done.

Sorry. For the steering. There's a slip joint in the column. Welding it firms the steering up quite a bit. I added a shim to the tilt-ball as well. @Timmah! describes it in this vid...

    This.

I recently had to replace the Clutch hydraulics. While I was in there, I removed the torsion spring and noted it was worn half-through where the center bushing should be. Replaced it with a Toyota brake pedal spring, works much better.

Doesn't it also mean the steering column can now punch a neat hole in your chest in event of a bad front end collision?

Kind of. I did 2 small tacks. They should easily break if that situation ever arises. Realistically though, the chances of that event ever happening are slim. Having said that, tacking the slip joint and putting a shim in the tilt ball really firmed up the steering.

My steering was so loose, I was literally about to purchase new tie rods (inner/outer), rack bushings etc. Did those mods and it felt like a brand new truck. Again, doesn't take long and is pretty much free. Wouldn't hesitate to do them again in a heart beat.

Did you grind down the side bushings or did you drill the clutch pedal assembly hole bigger?
