    Hello all,

I am new to the forums, but has a couple buddies refer me this way.

I am looking for tips on how to waterproof an mx4 backflip tonneau for a 2020 CC short bed.

Any tips, or links to other threads would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

You will never waterproof it. Mine only leaks at the tailgate, there is 1/4" gap on each side of it.

Thanks for the reply. That doesn’t sound bad at all. Maybe a piece of rubber insulation could help.

You might be better off with a camper top if you need 100% water proof bed. My tri-fold leaks by the tailgate also.
And yes I have tried to make it 100% water proof.

I used that on my tailgate. It does help some but I still have a few drops of water in the corners there after a hard rain or car wash. It's never much and so far none of my stuff has gotten wet. The bed has drain holes close by and the bed mat keeps everything above that tiny bit of water.

That’s good to know. Not looking for completely water proof, but it would be comforting knowing that my cargo isn’t getting soaked.

also, is the mx4 backflip daily secure? If not, any tips on beefing that up?

What Fredk said. The tailgate isn't waterproof. Truck beds aren't designed to be waterproof. That's why they're separate from the cab. You may get better result with a cap. Caps include a foam weather seal on 3 sides and the rear window closes behind the gate like flashing. But even the with cap, since the tailgate has gaps on both sides, it can never be fully waterproof.

I don't know anything specific to mx4 backflip. I have Lomax hard tri fold. It latches to the bed rails and opens from inside. You have to open the tailgate to release it, lock the tailgate and that should keep out all but the most dishonest ones with crowbars and the like.
