I know I posted in the wrong forum but this is for people who might not see it in the Tonneau cover area since they don't frequent it as often. Someone made the point that a coat hanger could pull the cable and unlock the first panel giving access even when the tailgate is locked. I fabricated a cover that snaps into the tracking system to protect the cable from being hooked. Cost me about $1 for material to make the 2 covers that are made from thin gauge galvanized steel. Bought material at a building supply company($8 for 12') It is channel with a lip on each side. Cut pieces to about 6" in length and then cut lips to about 1/8". These lips then slip under the black grooves and lock in place. Just pinch the two sides toward each other and snap into the grooves. Will get some pictures soon.

This was quickly made, a little rough and could be painted black. Can't see it from the road LOL. Seems fairly solid. May not stop thief but they will have to work a little harder.

Do you have any other pictures? Maybe it'll all make sense when I go look at the underside of the cover.
But you're saying the lips you made just clipped in?

I was thinking about super gluing a wooden dowel in the space just past where someone would slide the hanger in... what do you think?

If you have the BFMX4 flip up the 1st section and look at where the two cable handles are. On each side of the cable there is a groove on each side of the black painted aluminum. That is where the 1/8" lips on the galvanized(silver pieces I made up)shown in the first photo slide under to hold them in place.
