Sheet and stick design. A lot of these flatbeds that you see with a smooth floor are going to turn into a “ripple chip” very quickly. Start throwing gravel or material in there and it’s going to show it’s wear. We use extruded floor. Much stronger. Yet still light weight. Just like you see on highway trailers and horse trailers.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a stylish finish, but we wanted to make sure you could use and abuse our decks. You could still use those other brands for work, but do not get upset when you start to see waves and that smoothness disappear after some harder use applications.

I have a Ute Ltd bed on my 06 DCSB. Was going to get the C6 bed but decided to roll the dice on a K55 instead and I'm very happy with the results. Installation was a little squirrely, but it's been on there for a few months now with no complications.

Here's a couple, I haven't gotten any more recent ones so these'll have to suffice for now. They sent the wrong taillight bracket so since these pics I've made new ones to sit them in a little further. Once I run these tires down 235's are going on which will alleviate my biggest gripe with the wheel poke-age. The bumper is a total rip off of 1 Bored Clerk's. I even got the bracket templates from him so huge thanks go to him. The only problem mounting was that the supplied brackets don't line up with the forward holes, so I welded a couple extensions to mount them. Not ideal, but should hold up through whatever I throw at it. Definitely not a finished build yet, but it's getting there. I like how smoothly the K55 fits the body vs. the C6, which iirc is 4" wider (69" vs 73"). I've taken the running boards off, am going to move to fenders without flares, and as mentioned switch to 235/85/16s, which will tighten up the lines even better. Randy over at Ute Ltd was awesome through the whole thing, and even though it took an age to ship, that was entirely COVID's fault, and I can't hold that against him at all.

I guess I really can’t call mine a flatbed in the true form of a “flat bed”. Mine would probably be better described as a bed replacement system.

These look good. I wonder if any of them are compatible with an aftermarket high clearance rear bumper I already own?

It didn’t work for me. Had a relentless fab high clearance. Could have raised the bed I guess but I didn’t want it any higher.

Okay, cool. I'm sure I'd be able to sell it locally if I go this route.

And with the bed higher already, I may not need the protection.

I say try it and go from there. I don’t remember taking too much time to make it work. Never know.

Awesome seeing you here! I follow you and your wife on Instagram. We took a trip to Capitol Reef because of you two, it was amazing!

Thank you for the kind words and glad you had a good time there! Over the past 6 months my wife and I have been fortunate enough to be traveling in our Taco and seen many great places.

I have a thread here on Tacoma world called "Taking it Tacoma around the world, need advice" but haven't updated it with our travel adventures recently, shame on me. Everyone knows about Arches and Canyonlands National Parks but there are some relatively unknown jewels like Capital Reef. Another two are Grand Staircase/ Escalante and Vermillion Cliffs, both are National monuments. Our highlights there were Spooky/Pekaboo slot canyons and the South Coyote Buttes hike. Very different but both awesome in their own way. Hopefully next week we will head to Baja, :fingerscrossed:

I built one 25 years ago and loved it - made the truck a lot easier to wheel....no damage to the bed. upload_2021-3-3_1-15-14.jpg

Now you may be asking yourself, 'Mr. Halliwax, will two ikea couches fit in the bed of a K55?' Answer: Yes, yes they will.
