Hey friendos, I’m confused about something with the Tacoma tuning pack. I’ll have my kit to flash my Tacoma tomorrow, of course I bought the tuning pack for it. I’ll have the freedom to flash any of those pre-tunes as needed without dishing out all that extra cash for credits, right?

@Alcatraz1015 correct, you can flash your truck with the pre-tunes without spending credits. You only have to spend credits if you want to edit them

    I’m full of questions.

Is the stock tune that I’ll get from OVtune the “most recent” version that my Toyota dealer could flash my ECU with?

Once to get your stuff you will need to hook to the ECU port to get your ECU number.

Edit: NO you have to see if the ECU number you have is the most current...if not YOU can flash with techstream the most current TSB. Do NOT send Mat your ECU info TILL you have the most current ECU number for the tunes you want! Some have request tunes with a older ECU number then upgrade the ECU and then the tunes won't work.

The stock tune you can obtain via vF is the stock tune for whatever your ECU version is. This does not necessarily mean it's the most up to date ECU version for your model year, which can be updated if there's an update available via Techstream.

    i.e. 04B03 to 04B04

I think Windows just quarantined my vF (1.2.8.1) for wacatac.d!ml trojan.

    Anyone else?

There are times when our software gets falsely flagged, but I don't know specifically about "wacatac.d!ml"

Both Versions 1.2.8.0 and 1.2.8.1 downloaded with no warnings or need to Okay it in the Downloads folders.

Funny enough, an official version of TS V15 got flagged as a virus on installation, which killed the install.

I know when I updated to the new version last night Bitdefender threw a fit. I should've disabled it, but forgot.

Hmm, how could I be the only one?

I used it without issue last night; but, "vF Tuner.exe" got quarantined when I tried to open it today.

Don't think anything was done on the computer between those times. I do have a restart for updates request.

I restored it; everything seems fine.

I'm using Windows Defender and have had excellent results since it was first released. When it flags up something, it gives me the opportunity to Allow it. A couple times, I had reinstall a program, but problems rarely come back?

I haven't need to create and Exception for a folder in a long time with this method.

It may have given me the quarantine option and I took it because I thought it was unrelated to vF.

(I have previously had the download and install warnings; but, this appeared to be during launch... and not the first launch. FYI.)

Sometimes, you can never tell how programs will mess with you.

This week Excel has been freezing on launch because of two of MS's own Add-ins. Fun times.

Btw I just tested it again and Bitdefender would not allow me to launch it, reinstall it, or anything even when I completely disabled it. So, I uninstalled Bitdefender, re-enabled Windows Defender. Reinstalled VFtuner. Everything seemed fine. Shortly after restarting, sure enough, Windows Defender flagged exactly what you got for being a Trojan virus.

It did let me allow it as an exception and restore everything. I restarted again and everything is fine. I can launch the program and what not.

I had the same problem with Bitdefender, I tried everything and only way to make it work was to remove Bitdefender.
