    Hey TW,

I was driving home last night and could hear a popcorn like sound coming from the front under my feet. I could feel it as well. At first it was just on the left side but when I would go through a traffic circle, I could hear it on the right side. Driving today and the sound is much more noticeable and more frequent. I don't know if weather could have a play with this. It's the coldest night since I've had my truck, around 16°F. Any thoughts?

Is it possible that you are driving over road salt/traction sand OR road slush and the tires are kicking it up under the truck.

If it's good solid pops that are irregular and happen when turning then...

Sounds like your ADD collar for the front diff didn't AD and your front wheels are locked together binding.

If so I hope you didn't cause any damage.

This can happen when water gets into the motor and freezes or shorts the electricals.

I had my 1SG check it out. He looked under it and drove it around. He said that it sounds like the plastics and panels are so cold they are making the noise. Sitting at a light, I rocked the truck back and forth and you could hear it go from one side to the other.

My truck has also just started making this noise, but for me it’s only in the front passenger side. It is at it loudest when I’m making right turns at slower speeds. I was also thinking it could be weather related as I moved form California to Illinois and it just started this noise as it’s gotten colder.

We've had cold in the single digits for a few weeks here in Michigan and I've not heard anything out of the ordinary. I don't think this is an issue with the cold. The only noises I hear that are cold related are from the interior plastics making noises here and there until the interior warms up. Does it go away when the sun comes out and warms up the exterior?

It seems like the same problem for sure. Can you let me know what they say? The OP of the thread never did. I'm going to take it to a car wash and see if a warm bath helps. I'm out here in Germany and they aren't to willing to work on an American sold vehicle unless it is a well documented problem in the states.

Could be your front cab mounts. Had one go bad on mine. Located under the radiator. Noise mine made was a rattling when going over bumps. Know issue, will be repaired for free.
