Correct. In your first quoted post "#8-A engravings" refers to the 6spd shift pattern (8) and TRD (A), respectively. Those codes are taken from the picture (I will post it below) that I have linked in the first post.

As the order date approaches let me try to make sense of my anticipated order. I believe Ill go with the V.1 as that will work with my existing collar. I want aluminum with temp resistant copolymer ring and grip groove. The s12 (SR) top engraving. I am hoping for a nice weight for the knob and here is where my confusion lies. Do I need to add the brass core? And if so does that require the hybrid collar?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Trying to be concise. My order is as follows:
    V1 MT Hybrid (Copolymer core) w/ temp-resist Copolymer ring [220g] $99.99
    Top engraving #12 $14.99
    Grip Grooves $19.99
    Shipping & Paypal $14.80
    Total $149.77

Close, you're only missing the copolymer hybrid core charge.

But yes, if you want weight I'd go brass, otherwise, this configuration would not be much heavier than your stock knob. I can do brass on either V1 or V2 to the aluminum base material.

I do not have the exact weights of the V1's as they have been redesigned slightly.

Here is a sectional view showing what the new design will look like. The OEM chrome pc will still be utilized for V1's as always, but it will be completely covered. This allows for graphics on the side (Plain blank, TRD, SR, etc ... ) of the collar cover area. There will be no charge for the side graphics on V1 MT, as they will be 3D printed and not machined.

This is a similar idea to the part I already sell on Etsy, except it attaches to the knob:

Excellent! Thanks man... No need for exact weight as I trust the brass core will suit my needs.

    So the revision should be:

    V1 MT Hybrid w/ temp-resist Copolymer ring $99.99
    Top engraving #12 $14.99
    Brass core hybrid $24.99
    Grip Grooves $19.99
    Shipping & Paypal $14.80
And I'll take the SR printed collar covered area.
    Total $174.76

If I'm missing anything just let me know so I can fire the correct order off to you on the 15th.

    Thanks again!

Yep, that looks good. I expect it would be in the 350-400g range but I will get that all figured out before machining begins.

I would like this exact shift knob (v2 with TRD on the collar and shift pattern on top) with aluminum as the metal (I say that incase the one pictured is Stainless) also no brass core needed.

    Screenshot_20210210-190323_Chrome.jpg

Is that enough of a description for the 15th or do I need to provide specifics. Also do you ship to Canada?

That one is titanium, no takesie backsies!

I kid. That is enough information. I would only ask if you wanted the outlined shift pattern like that one, or the fully pocketed option. The pocketed option is only available for shift patterns on aluminum, and costs no extra.

Oh wow Titanium! Aluminum is fancy enough for me, I would got fully pocketed. I have my alarm set to the 15th so I hope I get a spot. I take it shipping to Canada is not an issue.

Any idea on how much will that setup weight compared to stock? I don't want a super heavy knob but slightly more than stock would be nice

It's 270g, close to 100g more than stock. Yep, I have always shipped to Canada ... not a problem.

    Speaking of Ti :D

After digging myself out of a pile of work, I experimented a bit, and decided the weight of the Ti will be about perfect (plus, it's titanium).

Probably going to shoot for just a straight Ti knob, 6-speed engraving (maybe TRD on the boot collar). I kind of like the copolymer ring, but I may want to color the metal at some point (how hard is it to unpin the ring and repin it?).

I would say it's impossible to unpin without destroying the ring, unfortunately.

I was thinking that might be the case. I might still get the ring though (and not try to remove it :D), if I don't mess with coating the Ti (I like to 'unshiny' as much as possible in the truck), the ring will add some nice contrast.

For what its worth, here is my input...solid Ti guy, no ring (was kinda early adopter)

Cosmetically I really like the Ti with ring. Had that been an option I would have heavily considered it. I dont think the ring option on Ti would nominally alter the feel weight of the Ti with the non ring option.

Temp tolerance wise...the Ti is most friendly. Again, no ring on mine and unless the knob is in direct sun thru glass it doesnt heat up as much as my Al, dissipates much, much more quickly and its the same with the cold...it just seems to strive fo a balanced temp very quickly.

Feel wise...well, until you have had 454g of solid, un-impeded by co-polymer, finely machined Titanium in your hand...thats something in itself.

It has a frequency to it...mebbe im :rasta: (I am) but there truth there...hard to explain

Dont be afraid of solid Ti environmentally Edit: by enviromentally i mean temperature wise

Rick fears his bits tho :sorry:

I am going to be that guy. I’ve look through this thread a lot but haven’t seen what exactly each metal looks like in color. Is there any way you can post pictures showing each? I really like the 3rd pic of the original very first post. Price will dictate which way I go unfortunately

Why must you tempt me!?! My one concern about going to a metal knob is driving in cold weather. Titanium does sound way better

I went down baker street twice...first was Al. Then I went Ti...cuz I'm kinda a freak that way. I digress...but I didnt go Ti because of temps (it is a huge difference tho) but because Im a freak...that being said, the Ti is the most temp friendly of the metals.

    And it shows the best.

Either way one decides to square the equation of cosmetics vs feel vs cost...baker street is the way to go
