Did you take it to a dealer for frame inspection and see if it qualifies for frame replacement? It might be right at the end of the extended frame replacement campaign.

It was CRC coated by the dealer a few years ago, I assume that takes the place of the frame replacement unfortunately

Mine had been CRC coated in the campaign before 2017, but they found a hole in 2020 and got a frame replacement.

It’s worth checking again as it looks like that frame very well has a hole. I wouldn’t assume anything.

They extend the frame warranty by X amount of years or something if it’s been CRC coated.

the people who opted out of crc however are the ones who forfeit frame replacement.

Spot on! Except for the plug kit. The most problematic hole is inside the front cab mounts. Look in there with a flashlight. Gaping 3” hole right into the boxed section where the rust cancer grows from the inside out! Almost like intended sabotage!! WTF, Dana Corp!?

I think the front body mount plugs in the floor boards fit those holes if I’m not mistaken. Somebody has a thread on it and posted part numbers I think.

I did do that on my Tacoma.

I actually bought the plug kit and plugged up all the holes up front on both my 4Runner and GX. Didn’t plug the cab mount hole yet. I attempted to then pushed too hard and lost a plug to the frame and stopped out of frustration lol. Boxed frame, not getting that one back out.

Thanks everyone for the input! So I called Toyota, they said my 2009 is no longer eligible. So my plan is this:

    1. Angle grinder w/ wire wheel, grind rust off.
    2. Degreaser to clean everything up
    3. Rustoleum Rust Inhibitor spray
    4. Black engine enamel spray paint
    5. Fluid film coating

What are your thoughts on this, is this a good plan? And what degreaser or cleaning agent should I use for step 2?

Interesting!! But just to be sure, I’m not talking about the hole that points straight down below the cab mount bolt but the one on the frame rail which is somewhat hidden inside the cab mount horn.
So you’re saying the top body mount plug under the carpet fits in there as well??

Yep referring to same hole on the frame itself. I’m pretty sure the plug under the carpet fits. I’d have to find the thread again. The easier body mount plug to get to is the ones on either side of the rear bins if you have a double cab. Just lift the folded carpet up and pull them out.
