Ok finally getting around to using this.
I am trying to change my alternator for an AGM battery.
Was going off page 192 thread 3821.
    upload_2021-2-17_16-32-19.jpg

My 04B31 stock file and this one 04B31_Reg_Stock_TW.vft seem to be missing some phase duty cycles.

From forum what I was going off of.

    upload_2021-2-17_16-35-55.jpg

What I am seeing on both 04B31 files.
    upload_2021-2-17_16-36-23.jpg

Is 6 and 7 supposed to be missing and 8 is gone on all of them.

    VfTuner version.
    upload_2021-2-17_16-38-27.jpg

Purpose is to modify the following file to allow for 33's and an AGM battery.

Alrighty guys, we are expecting to have this update released end of this week, and I want to clarify a few things ahead of time.

    Important information:
    - Everyone using vF Tuner is required to update for any future support.
    - The previous flash tool will be obsolete / no longer used
    - The credit system will change slightly. (credit to unlock ECU, credit to unlock VIN). but you get more credits per price.
    - Once a vehicles ECU is unlocked and in our system (VIN, etc) Anyone with vF tuner can flash it. This ensures a vehicle will never need to be licensed twice.
    - People with our flash kits not interested in using vF tuner *must* update to our new flash tool when released, for any future support. (free).
    - Pro Tuners will have a new flash tool and method for providing remote calibration services
    - You can license a ECU/Vehicle in person or remotely via the VIN credit tool.

About our new flash tool :

    - It is all integrated directly into our vF Tuner program.
    - No more secondary registrations at all. You register with your Master key and you can flash right away
    - No more wait times. Master keys are emailed same day as order, and you don't need us for any other steps
    - Our flash tool On Gen1 ECUs has our own custom block writing and flash block protocol. It's one of the FASTEST Gen1 Flashing Tools on the planet! You can flash some Gen1 ECUs in as fast as 20 seconds.
    - Internet connection is required for crediting and flashing.

You must update to this version if you want access to:

    - Additional / updated tables
    - Additional / updated controls
    - Updated Datalogger
    - Any upcoming / future patches
    - Our exclusive Map Expansion code - which allows you to reconfigure the size and setup of multiple tables. (convert a 8x8 table into 12x12.. or a 25x17 table into a 32x32!)
    - Our exclusive Shift algorithm patch

    A bit of FAQ, answered

Why did we decide to change the license structure?
This decision was for multiple reasons. The main reason being is to make this easier for you to use. No more additional steps, no more additional registrations. On top of that, we changed the structure for security reasons. As some of you may know, there has been piracy going on, and some have even gone so far as to sell other users files without their permission.
This new version ensures vehicles are properly licensed and will stop any unauthorized flashing. For the end - user who does not flash multiple vehicles, this costs you nothing.
For the folks providing services to multiple vehicles, pro tuners, etc, there will be a per-vehicle credit requirement.

How much does this update cost me?

This update is completely free. On top of that, all vF Tuner users will be credited an extra 4 software credits so they can license their own truck/vehicle.

What if I have already flashed multiple trucks? Do I have to buy credits for them?

We will be working with folks who have flashed multiple vehicles and credit them for the amount of credits they have purchased. (the amount of credits you have purchased, doubled).

Are credits going to be more expensive?

The price of credits for the software will not change. Instead you will get more credits per order.

    I don't have vF Tuner...what do I do?

No worries, if you have our flash kit and don't have or want vF Tuner, we are working on an all new program for you guys too. So that you can still get updates!

Is the price of the software going to change?

The price of our software will be changing slightly going forward. Before, we had to pay registration fees, and such *per* reg.key to a 3rd party.
This is no longer the case and as a result vF Tuner software price will reflect that.

    Hey, Mat.

Just confirming the online to flash note. I thought you might have said that wouldn't be necessary if the VIN was pre-registered?

I use my phone as an access point all the time for work, it drops connection frequently.

This won't cause a flash to stop mid cycle will it?

Internet is not required durin flashing, but internet is required to check the vehicle when preparing to flash.

Once flashing starts it cannot be interrupted, and requiring internet during the whole flash process is dangerous so no.

Looks like I may need to finally buy a laptop. Used to just bring my Desktop PC outside. Perhaps I can just get a wireless card for it and use my phone as a hotspot since Wi-Fi won’t reach my driveway... I don’t flash tunes very often or customize, though.

@tonered tuned my truck the other day and what a difference. Drives like it should, still baffled how Toyota could screw up so badly. Thanks so much!

@OVTune Mat - I know you are busy with this conversion. I asked the following question a while back and would still like an answer. Yes I have a Magnuson SC - which uses your flash tool. Magnuson is and will continue to produce refined Tunes. Will I need to update to the new .vft software to flash their future tunes? I still have and own my .vft software/license from pre-SC. Thank you for clarification of this question.

Edit: maybe the best way to get an answer to this is to ask Magnuson? Works for me.

    Going off if this:
If I buy vftuner pro can I access the magnusson tune? I bought a SC and the fact they aren't allowing tune edits is not ideal. I could also care less about the warranty.... I just want to be able to fiddle with things which is the reason I got vf in the first place but understand if that’s not up to you Matt.

I tried to post on the vftune forum but apparently I’m old/dumb and can’t figure out how lol.

    Thanks, @scottedb .

It was a pleasure meeting you and your family and is a shame that Toyota won't unleash what the hardware can do. At least we have an excellent solution.

Enjoy the Taco and the tune!

The pro version of vF doesn't give access to locked tunes, it's still locked by Magnuson.

If you're wanting to make edits, you're better off taking the truck to a shop with a tuner who feels comfortable using vF and then you could edit the final map as desired

I get that we wouldn't access locked tunes, but he did say we'd get support. So maybe pushing me in the right direction for the SC tune. But yes maybe I'll have to take it to a shop familiar with SC's. I just know Matt probably knows a lot more about FI than most especially in Toyota's. Appreciate it regardless.

Pro version does not give you access to anyone's locked tunes.

If you have magnusons SC, and want to know how / what to do / flash / etc regarding their tunes, follow their directions when they post revised directions for their software / tune they provide you.

Once again we only provide software, nothing else, so any questions related to magnusons product/flashing/methods needs to be directed to them.

Please understand that Magnusons calibration is their IP, with hundreds of hours of development, dynamometer testing, etc. It is their discretion who they allow, if anyone, to access their calibrations.

Thank you for your reply. Interesting, I just got this email from them

“In order to get the file we base our calibration off of I believe you have to purchase the Pro software from OV. We make a lot of changes but the main areas are timing, AFR and air load tables.”

They’re willing to make some changes so that’s nice at least.

Do any vendors here provide any maps that have higher hp and tq figures than the 2.0 performance maps?
