    Oh. I thought you were a 3rd Gen. I think EDRs go back to the mid-2000s? Something like 2005 for all vehicles. I was trying to figure out if our 2001s had them. Never did.

    But if I use my iphone through Apple carplay that wouldn't affect me, is that correct?

    Don't take this seriously, but you just pwned yourself there.

    More to the point, I don't think that anyone around here really knows about the info exchange between the vehicle and phones, esp for apps like CarPlay and AndroidAuto. You can test by simply identifying and unplugging the connector.

    Your phone is able to be tracked my a number of tools in possession of the cell companies and federal law enforcement.

    Literally the only way to not be digitally tracked is to drive a ‘73 Oldsmobile and use pay phones.

    , only use cash (but not more than $10k), and stay away from CCTV cameras . . .

    OH! Don't post the vids on YouTube either.

    In the end, moving to an non-1st World country is probably easier?

    I’ll post my post here;

    I’m not here to debate, only to say that I’m in the boat of not wanting this in my vehicles.
    Much like a giant lift may appeal to some but does not appeal to others. This is a feature I’d rather defeat/disable/remove, if I can.

    With that said here is the info I’ve been able to gather from various sources..
    Just to update everyone, the DCM does much more than just gatherdata..
    [IMG]
    It’s located here in our trucks(MY19/20+ only)
    [IMG]

    Is there a fuse on the transmitter than can be pulled?
    There is a fuse that can be pulled;
    [IMG]
    It’ll look like this on the screen;
    [IMG]

    The DCM unit does have a battery attached to it;
    [IMG]so it may still show that it istransmitting data for a bit until that battery is dead.
    This is done so that the SOS system can still be used in the case of an accident that wipes out the entire engine bay. I’m not sure how long it takes for the battery to die, but mine seemed to be completely dead from the time I pulled the fuse [greyed out DCM on screen no green light at SOS button].

    Now this is the issue; The mic runs through the DCM. So by pulling the fuse, you loose the mic for bluetooth/carplay.
    Everything else works fine and asit should from my few days ofrunning around with the fuse pulled out.

    So far, that’s as far as I’ve got.
    I’m hoping that maybe someonewith more knowledge or research could maybe speak to this, but Ithink the only remaining question is if there is a way to bypass the DCM to be able to use the mic again.

    No one seems to actually care about this stuff; you’ll just get the ‘but your cell phone’ and ‘put on your tinfoil hat’ people coming out of the woodwork. Ah well.
    I plugged my fuse back in and called them to opt out. Until I can figure out a way to get the mic working again, that’ll be that for this issue.
